Congrats!!! Its def older than 1.5 but there in lies the problem of point restrictions if it was 4 on a side this buck would pass on those genes till it died a natural death or is poached. I had a buck on camera that was a wide 4pt for at least 3 years on camera, the last year he was alive he was a 20 in wide with 18in beams and bases over 4 in spike!. was aged at 6.5 years old ..neighbors nephews got him that year. pics didn't lie was the same deer!, just bad genitics again in an area of high buck harvest it there were point restrictions he would of been untouchable... better off just looking for a mature deer the heck with points or spread!

my 76 year old neighbor only takes head shots, bucks and does. doesn't want to waste any meat. all you ever hear from him is one shot then 20 min later atv to drag it out.. never saw him wound or miss a deer in 20 years...

I doubt it , i have 3 different bears on trail cam from this year, there are a lot of them in the area now. Have been for last 5 years or so. this is 3nd from cuba area i know of this year one was taken during archery. the other was destroyed by dec due to its breaking in to a homes porch several times this spring.

Need help deciding on a new 30.06 and 12Ga
G-Man replied to Tony7781's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
I have 12 ga mossbergs and brownings, main reason is the location of safety on top of tang. The browning bps is a better built gun having a double slide vs a single of the mossbergs, you'll pay for the quality of machined parts of browning vs stamped of mossberg. Both are good shooting guns and either will do what u want. it just comes down to what fits you and what you want to spend... as for the 30-06 winchester or remington are more expensive and savage makes a quality affordable gun. -
Yes they do! your lucky especially if true ww2 knife!

handloads, .454 casull bullet at 350 grain (its a compressed load) meant for single shot rifles, but new marlins (not sure about remlins) can handel the pressure according to the tech i talked to. guni have is about 10 years old now.

If your any kind of shot you did hit it , and yes the hair soaks up a ton of blood before it will drop to ground, not to mention the fat plugging holes. i just got one and it didn't bleed for 200yrds. 1st shot was at 5 ft, and 3 more at 10-20 yards, all hits and no blood for 200 yards... thankfully i had snow!

I've seen awesome mounts done for $325.00 and aweful ones done at a price a lot more than that. Some large shops use many differnt taxidermists and students,or trainees you never know who is actually doing your mount. Try finding a guy that does all his own work
-
Yes, 5 foot. The first shot went down thru the neck and into the left front leg to the elbow, broke neural spine of 2 vertebra, half an in to the right it would of broke its neck and died right there coming out of the top. Instead i will have nightmares the rest of my life....

It is a big boar, got it to taxidermist last night, going with a full mount with base as he gave me a great deal and payment plan , and the strong opinions of about 10 friends who wisely said well you might get another bear but not 400lbs (408lbs too be exact). the lower jaw is destroyed, i'll do the skull myself, taxidermist did some rough measurments and it looks like it will end up between 19 1/2 and 20 inches when cleaned..

absolutly, the deer at my house ignore me and the person i have cutting firewood, my friends say its unfair hunting as the deer all know me. if any scent is in an area year round and poses not threat 364 days a year its usually ignored after getting use to it.look at farmers working around a barn all day..they are ignored but leave the routine and poof deer leave quick!! I just told my friend to do about the same thing walk his property everyday year round so the game gets use to his smell, so the deer in his 10 acres don't spook the instant they smell him in the woods(he tried hunting it this year after staying out of it all year and the deer smelled and spooked every time he was there...)

Not east aurora but elma, alway been real good hunting, you need permission froma landowner to hunt though as it is all private. Seveal lage bucks are taken in that area every year, but make a sure shot as there are a lot of animal lovers in that area as well.

Well got him out with 4 neighbors/friends, put him on a travois and dragged it 250 yards to nearest logging road where i could get to with one of my tractors. that 250 yards took 2 hrs with 5 men pushing pulling, the oldest helper was 76, the youngest was 32. was a lot of work but everyone had fun and was excited. Oh got my patch from dec as well! here is one of his "meat hooks" as well
-
Dec checked it today, weight 400lbs, and estimate age of 5yr plus, have to wait almost a year for exact age from tooth analyisis..

Well i was helping a friend and neighbor try get a doe at my place, saw some tracks and followed them to some old tops, walked up a deadfall to get a look into them, took about 4 more steps up the log so i was 3 -4 feet off ground, when it came up from under me at 5 feet... got a couple of shots in it out of pure fright , and self preservation. then had to track and finish it .. poking your head into every top it went in to see if it was there is not a pleasant experiance, especially when it comes out running right at you!! had 2 neighbors and a friend from a camp up the road helping me track and covering me whlie poking my head in. came in very usefull!! i would never track a wounded bear by myself.... ever!!

I've never had a problem with an eco, and have had eco and biologists on my property trapping turkey and leg banding them. Got to know a few of them well and they stop by to check the harvest every year. Even was a shock to my neighbor who was complaining about my camp shooting all the deer and how we were all over his property, eco took all his info and came to see me, saw no problem with my camp, walked across my line to go see my neighbor in his stand and cited him for salt blocks and baitpiles found while walking his property! karma is a bitch!! -
Took me 3 years and several calls, even cut down a tree with somone's portable stand in it after a note asking to remove it was only read and stand moved over 1 tree and was chained, smashed the crap out of it, whom ever it was got the point i think! but the tresspassing stopped.
-
Thinking of a rug, full mount will be to expensive for me i think. wating for dec to check it. really want to see what it weighs and how old.

pellets got damp. powder absorbs moisture, i'm guessing your pellets are a year old or older.
