  1. I have one buck i had officially scored i took. An 8 pt scoring 142 1/8.with gun that made nybbc . Taco has a p& y 10 pt he took here that was 137ish if i remember right. I believe he entered his in ny record book, and freind shot a 140 6/8 10 pt here he had measured but i dont know if he ever entered it. I have a few that i shot with bow that are over 125 but never officially entered them . I just dont see the need to pay to put a buck in the books. As for big bucks not measured my 84 year old neighbor has several that would be in nys recordbook but he has no interest in putting them in ,im sure there are more that feel the same way.. seems old racks are always coming into light as they were in grampas attic, shed, or local bar.. score doesnt mean much to many people of an older generation.. many i see on social media look to be nys book bucks but never make it as owners dont get them measured and pay to put in..
  2. The dec backed every bill and so did sportsman alliance. It still never made it out of committee, letter were written and sent in ,lobbiest did their part , still never made it out of committee. Will have to be redrafted and send back to committee, then discussed and then this will be shown to want it.. but may still not make it out of committee, as they are politicians not biologists/ game managers
  3. The money goes to dec ,but a clean up of a brown field or dredging of hudson river of mercury is " good for the enviroment and there for robert/ pittman funds are used in a loophole. The dec is an environmental group that also monitors game. Untill we have a right to hunt and fish and a seperate game departmant this will continue with no checks. That is the problem and why when the sportsman blame dec for inactivity.. there more pressing issue are cleaning up coal burnijg boilers in nyc.
  4. Is not a simple.proposal.or regulation , they have to change the law.. ( we have politicains making laws on things they know nothing about) this is exactly what crossbow coalition has been tryjng to do. Even with this support from dec it may not happen as legislature need a bill created and voted on after committee put it to floor for vote. ( it hasnt made it out of committee in 3 years now)
  5. The x bow is still a law that needs to be changed so maybe by july at best
  6. I nys wants big bucks the solution is simple. Remove the game department from the dec and make a constitutionl amendment for right to hunt and fish to be managed by a game department. This eliminates all the political and hunter appeasement from game management and leaves it to biologists.
  7. Yep most western states are but people love to compare and want part of what they do even if it is a insignificant part of their overall management plan
  8. Peach need to be a winter hardy variety "reliant"seem to work best. Plum are susceptible to. A soil fungus that causes black knot.. all my plums have gotten it . There are ways to fight it but most are time consuming..
  9. Also after the rut some thing newyorkers would go crazy over
  10. Many states in the nw do not allow a closed breach ( inline not open to atmosphere) cva even makes northwest editions that have open breach plugs that use musket caps vs shotgun primers.. just to comply with their regulations.
  11. Actually they are 1st plant to leaf out along with multiflora rose. A simple spray of gly at 4 % lest me do about a half acre at time with a 2 gallon hand sprayer, this doenst disturb the soil and encourage hidden seeds to sprout.
  12. Honeysuckle is a desert not browsed and keeps regeneration of beneficial seedlings from growing creating browse. been trying to eradicate it for few years here making steady headway. Same with ceder good winter cover but thats about it. , seems big draw is hard and or soft mast. A bit of cover in thise hardwoods and you would have much more movement as well as food / browse to hold more deer.
  13. Looks to open for daylight movement of mature buck, a nice timber thinning would help that a few brush piles for cover..
  14. Not looking for a number one but a top 10 rusher would make this team unstoppable.. allen has an off day and our run game is not what it needs to be to win.
  15. Learned this long time ago from an old vhs video ..... Always better to pick a tree to get a deer that you may see then be in a tree to see deer you may only have a chance to get.. You can still find them from time to time on internet ..anything by whitetail visions will teach you more than 10 years hunting experaince will. Back when video were instructional instead of ad campaigns...
  16. Yes better stastically than our recieving te it seems... reminds me of refrigerator perry on the bears....
  17. 4.3average but .. 1.3 on 20 attempts and then a long run. Still the number 22 back this year well 20th rb 2 quarterbacks have better run statistics.. but its all good...lmao
  18. Just wish Bills had a running back that kept his legs moving sick of seeing them hit a pile and fall over..
  19. Yes thru your county , Removing invasive species, clearcutting a sanctuary area, ,removing species that are undeseriable. Have applyed for a wetland enhancement project building duck/waterfowl ponds in a swampy area for migratiin and nesting ..( this has been a hard one i started it 3x already and playing around with farmbill under obama killed it several times). Now who knows may have to start over again.
  20. If your truly interested try contacting your local forest owners association. They usually have meetings and classes you can take that will fill you in on programs available as well as information and training sessions for yourself to do. Not only game but mycology, butterfly, bee, and non game species enhancements
  21. Saves 80% on land accessment for taxes, i big help to me, Bonus everything ive been doing to improve.my property is what i need to do do to fit intonthis programs guidelines, and i get helpand get paid to do many of the projects that i was planning in doing anyway thru grants that i apply for. . Best thing going imo to bad it is onky for larger acrerages ,imo every serious sportsman landowner should be allowed in this. Great for wildlife and improving habitat.. as for the 10 year rolling commitment i was doing it anyway with no $ benifit not i safe thousands on my taxes and do the same thing.
  22. Standard trannys are pretty easy. Especially if synchronized. Having to double clutch to synchronize gears to shift is prolly the hardest to do imo.
  23. Your better off with the 50 and loose powder, hard to find things for a 45 cal. They were a fad and dropped off a few years ago. I use 50 grains of powder in my 50 cal pistol and it will take deer to 65 yards, the heavier the gun and less powder you use will be biggest difference in recoil. In fact a same bullet in a 45 cal would prolly kick more with same amount of powder as gun weighs less
