The yearling scrubs are from neighboring lands and are pushed in here by their moms , they will always be smaller than their same year class 4 , 6, 8pts.. id rather see them shot to fill a doe tag than. A nice basket 6 or 8 pt. They will be a nice buck the next year, problem with ars in high take areas you highgrade a herd quickly... new study out that shows thes spike will alys remain 30% or more smaller than their same year class bucks.

Cant have sling going thru the brush we go thru would get hung up, mostly multiflora rose ,green briar,hawthorn , bar berry... the one walker came out and said i think the snow even had thorns....

Tuesday is last day for muzzleloader in southern zone

Was normal season , total take was 13 buck and 4 doe , still have 2 days left so it may go up. Everyone got deer that was out. 3 nice buck taken , rest scrubby, was glad to only have 4 doe taken as id like to build up population as new neighbors also take doe where old owner was buck only

Still hunting is moving slow hunting, stand hunting is not moving hunting.. still hunt is a slow deliberate walk ,or stalk that may take an. Hour to cover 100 yards.

1st. Build box opposite side of the field so you look at hedge row. Sit in that one Deer know your in one your hunting ,prolly can see you walking in . 2nd. If Deer can see the plot even if they cant smell it.... Thicken up edge of field and perhaps cut it in half using a planted screening.. deer simply cant see whole field and must get up to see, scent check it or wind it. 3rd option is to drive it but that would be my last resort. Manipulate the habitate to make them. Enter where you want in daylight. Would be my method of choice..

Yes they call that a planker, usually made out of 2x10 overlapped 3in, think a wash board... you can put large spikes thru it as well, and flip from side to side for working ground and smoothing it... cheap easy tillage equipment.
