  1. I used to hunt for years out of Nahmakanta Camps in Piscataquis back in the 70's. Looked forward to it every year. The piece I have is 100 acs on the border of Cherryfield and Milbridge. Washington county
  2. I bought it in 2005 and have yet to hunt it. Was supposed to last year, but 2 weeks before we were set to go, my buddies appendix burst. I've seen some huge beds while walking in the hay meadows. Hoping for next year....
  3. I had the same problem on my property in Maine last year. The local game warden called and told me he suspected illegal ATV activity and asked for my permission to put up a few cameras. Naturally, I said yes. They were caught and fined within two weeks. Good luck. Hope you're able to catch and prosecute the trespassers.
  4. 1 Remington 742 30-06. I know, I know, "jam master", right? It's dumped a lot of venison over 40 years and never had an issue. My dad gave it to me for Christmas when I was 15. 2 Winchester 70 Featherweight 7mm08 made in South Carolina. I know its saying a lot, but I'd put it up against anyone's pre 64, both for quality of build and accuracy. 3 A tie Ruger 77 Ultra Lite 257 Rob tang safety. Winchester 70 Featherweight 257 Rob. Also built in South Carolina. Same quality as #2 Honorable Mention CZ 452 American .22 It's uncanny though. The first shot hits center X, and makes an abnormally large hole. The next 4 seem to miss paper completely.
  5. It's my understanding that if you hunt on private land for hogs, you don't even need a license. You can hunt year round and there are no bag or size limits. But, if you hunt on a Florida WMA, (their public land), you need a license and there are seasons and bag limits. You also need to enter and win the lottery for a specific week and a specific WMA. I retired to Florida 2 years ago and this is what I have found during my research. If this info is wrong, I'd love to hear from long time Fl residents who have the answers first hand.
  6. Hi All Could someone, please, tell me how to attach a picture to my name so it shows up when I post? I've looked all over my profile page looking for a prompt but find nothing. Do members need to reach a certain status before this is possible?
  7. I'm considering a deer hunt in Ontario for 2019 . I've heard that Ontario is the sleeper province, and that rates are a bit more reasonable than Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. Does anyone have first hand experience that can recommend a good outfitter? Probably going with one buddy but would welcome others who might be interested.
  8. To hunt hogs, deer and turkey on public land in Fl, don't you have to apply for a lottery permit around Feb or March?
  9. Well, I'm glad she was porn star and not a slut.
  10. I know this thread is two years old, but I'll post this anyway. I belong to a club in East Branch, which is in Delaware county. We are looking to, possibly, add a few new members. There is no initiation fee and dues are $500/yr. You are required to attend, and actively participate, in at least 2 of 4 scheduled work weekends. This entitles members to year round use of 208 acs. and the club house. which is 60x20. We are off grid but have a generator for power. There is also, hot and cold water and a bathroom with shower. We are at the confluence of the Beaverkill and East Branch Delaware rivers, two of the best trout streams in the East. Great fly fishing in the spring and summer, and the camp is virtually unused at that time of year.
  11. moog5050, Yeah, I've read that about the puncture issue. Don't think that will be a concern where I ride, though. I've also read that they actually do pretty well in mud and snow, considering that they are an all round tire. I'm not a fan of mud, but I do love to ride in snow. Thanks for the reply.
  12. Thinking of putting a set of Terracross on my KingQuad 400ASI in the spring. They get great reviews as an all around tire. Are you still liking yours? BTW, I like the smaller machines vs the big bores for where I ride. If I get stuck out at the end of one of our steeeeep goat trails, I can get off and swap ends, with some difficulty. I can't imagine doing that on a big bore. Plus I like the much lower center of gravity.
  13. turkeyfeathers, Sir, please forgive me for stepping on your thread. I am still fairly new here, and figuring out how to navigate the site. Is there a sub forum here to put like minded members together who might want to do an out of state hunt? If not, is that a possibility and how would one go about setting something like that up that up?
  14. 2X. Though I do like to admire a nice piece of blued steel and walnut resting across my thighs.
  15. Cool! Wish I had that kind of luck. The only time my number comes up is for jury duty. Enjoy both rifles.
  16. He could be a 3.5 y/o, but I'm not positive. One thing's for sure, if he walks in front of me while I'm still hunting, he won't be celebrating anymore birthdays.
  17. "Although DEP no longer issues separate Hunting Tags and DEP Access Permits are no longer required on “Public Access Areas,” DEP Access Permits are still required on those properties posted with signs that read “Entry by Permit”.Because other restrictions may exist on New York City water supply lands, all hunters and trappers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with DEP’s Rules for the Recreational Use of Water Supply Lands and Water." Did some research and found this sight: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/recreation/hunting_and_trapping.shtml
  18. I was told you no longer even need those DEP permits any longer. Is that true?
  19. Sorry dude. NOT cool. Not your property, not your business, not cool.
  20. If you want to try this method without the expense of buying special equipment, all you need is a large sauce pot and a thermometer. Heat the water in the pot to 135-140F. Check and adjust water to maintain temp while cooking. I've cooked backstraps like this at my hunting camp using a six pack beer cooler and finished by searing on a grill over a hard wood fire. It was food fit for a king.
  21. Here's something ya don't see too often either....a 5 or 6 hundred pounder enjoying a case of Coronas in the front yard.
