  1. need to find a spot for 1 ground blind and spots for 2 ladder stands, permithrinize clothes and fine-tune sight in gun for coyotes. time is running low.
  2. Just got my progressive lenses (never had them before). Thought I'd kill all my vision problems with 1 pair i.e. distance and reading. Big mistake! they work, they need some getting used to but they are no good for shooting my bow. They are no good because you look thru different parts of the lens depending on if you want to see close things, far things or somewhere in between. When testing with my bow, I had to twist my head further to the left (am right handed) than my usual natural shooting form to get a clear vision of the target thru my peep. If I tried to shoot it like I naturally do, I was looking thru a part of the lens that distorted the target. Major suck!. I have not tested it with any of my gun scopes yet but imagine it will be the same. So much for that idea. Will wear them for general use, But just ordered a set of single vision (distance) glasses so I can once again shoot normally with glasses as there is no distortion areas throughout the entire lens. I typically don't wear glasses or contacts. I Am legal to drive in NY without them but were required to wear them when I lived in Jersey for a spell 20 years ago. Vision isn't that bad but thought I'd shoot better with a clearer target image.
  3. thanks for the suggestions guys! I have an elite dealer in Morris - about 45 minutes a way and will check them out. Will also check out the obsession bows and mathews. after the season is over and I retire my 15 year old Hoyt xtec xt 1000 - will be researching those guys for my final bow purchase.
  4. i use a trigger stick - both monopod and tripod. the monopod has a flat rubber/plastic foot pad accessory you can buy. it screws into the footpad accessory into a rubber housing which allows you to adjust the monopod (bending its position) at any angle. - good for sitting/standing and a treestand. my new mono/bi/tripod is a levellok.com system. trying it this year because it is more than twice as light as the trigger stick to carry and it is a combo for ,omo/bi/try-pod. the monopod treestand accessory formy trigger stick (gen2) https://www.amazon.com/Primos-Hunting-Monopod-Treestand-Attachment/dp/B003RVOC8K levellok.com version http://levellok.com/product/tripod-multipod-combo/
  5. Thinking of getting a new bow for next season, altho mine is perfectly fine. I have a 2004 Hoyt xtec xt 1000 I bought new. It's small, quiet, shoots good, etc but has the 65% let off. As I age, I am considering getting a new bow with the higher let offs and possibly a little lighter in weight. Not sure what to get yet but it was suggested I look into mathews bows. Is the higher letoffs all its cracked up to be? Any other suggestions/brands other than mathews. I would be looking for a 26.5" draw with probably a 60-65lb draw weight. I dropped my Hoyt's weight from 70# to 65# a few years back. It doesn't have to be the fastest bow on the block but would like it to be 325ft/sec or so. I find that the faster the bows are, the faster you miss and are a little harder to control/tune....lol. let me know your thoughts. thanks
  6. 6 ladder stands, 4 ground blinds
  7. just went from spitfires to muzzy ones - no alignment of feathers just popped em on and shot - didn't need any adjustments at 20 or 25 yards. Used to have problems with fixed blades but these seem to work for me.
  8. I found a wallet bowhunting about 20 years ago, found the guy, called and met him at the archery shop. when he showed up to pick up his wallet, he took all the cash out and handed it to me. I gave it back and refused payment telling him that if I ever lost mine I'd hope somebody would call me....lol.
  9. hmmm...plenty of vortex scopes listed on ebaay right now ie.https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2334524.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC2.A0.H0.Xvortex+scope.TRS1&_nkw=vortex+scope&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&_osacat=0&_odkw=rock+river+arms
  10. I was inquiring more about their synthetic lure powders.
  11. I was at work, went up on the roof to get a better look after the first tower fell and watched the 2nd tower fall from there. One minute it was there with smoke pouring from it, then it was gone. Lost a couple friends that day and still listen for their names to be called every year. Sad day.
  12. Anyone using them? any luck with them? thoughts? Going to test them out this season so just wondering. Seems like a good concept and the products they say never go bad.
  13. damn....wish I could find some in my woods like that!
  14. ladder stands and ground blinds. reached that age where tree climbing is too risky to be using the hang-ons anymore. It's much nicer arriving and going in the blind or climbing a ladder than using spikes, ladder sticks, hand on steps, tree steps ect. to hang a stand....call me lazy!
  15. lol not sure yet. there is no ghillie strings just flat vertical strips. won't know until i test it out with a vertical bow, but was mainly planning to use it during xbow and gun season mostly for predators and deer stalkin and spring turkey. I mostly hunt out of my ladder stands or ground blinds during verticaal bow season and was not intending to wear it then - just when I was ground hunting or stalking. hope that helps. best part is it's only 2lbs!
