Local Business comes under State and Union attack

Recommended Posts

Sounds like the pressure is coming more from the labor unions than the state, no?

well I am not sure where it is coming from. You probably know Dinosaur BBque. One in ROchester has been hurt by sticky lips business.....Soros owns the lions share of it. Hate to sound like a conspiracy nut but the whole things stinks.

The pressure is coming through the unions but without the state agencies being the muscle men the unions would have no leg to stand on.

I never knew Soros owned the majority of Dinosaur BBQ. I know one restaurant I wont be eating at any longer...

Someone spends money in the community , creates jobs and gets hassled by the Unions . It sucks .

I worked for a Union for 6 years and got out of it . All the shop chairman did was take care of the lazy shitbirds ! The 1st day of work , I got hollared at for sweeping the floor of a Dock because it wasn't my job . I was told that if I did it again , I could be repremanded . I worked that area for two weeks and it was pretty much a Pig Sty !

I worked for Teamster Local 282 for two years and it was the biggest scam going. They are all puppets and paid off. My boss was a crooked gangster, which he eventually got pinched and is now doing time, and paid everyone off or threatened them and I got the shaft.

Basically the whole prevailing rate issue is a scam to keep the unions with what little life there is in them. It is Govt waste at it's best. It is socialism. Mandate the wages paid on a project so the unions can compete.

And people wonder why many companies left this country in droves. Sorry if any union guys get offended, but in the current day with all of the labor laws, etc in place, the time of the union has passed. They did great things for workers way back when, but have become nothing more than corrupt, power hungry pigs feeding on the trough that is the American economy.

Can't believe anyone would want to start a business in this crap hole of a state.

http://stickylipsbbq...ps/archives/507

Not only NY, head down south and try and start a small business and you might be suprised by some of the crooked small time politics you incounter there too. Just seems to be the basic character of our nation, corrupt politics and greedy bastards who wanna make it hard for anyone to get ahead unless they get their cut..

Unions are good for nothing! Except keeping sh--t birds employed. It was a good idea in the begining, now its run by crooks and politicians. Got a dumbarse where I work that keeps trying to start a union. The way I see it, the state taxes me and the Fed taxes me and now a union wants to tax me to so I can keep working to pay all three. F- you!!! To bad about Dino, I really liked there BBQ sauce that I will no longer be buying.

The building in question is pretty close to where I work. It's a shame to see that happen as the owner has been pretty successful with a prior food business before Sticky Lips and he seems like a good guy. I know someone who works at the new one and they love it there. I know the big deal really is the land issue - there have been significant recent tax issues popping up with that authority because they have been EXTREMELY profitable in recent years based on some of the tax/cost breaks. The same group owns a chunk of very valuable land on Scottsville Rd. that is being developed. Sad to see...I used to see a few bowhunters on it each year when driving by.

I think this owner's issue has less to do with him and more to do with the Authority. Several agencies want to revamp the authority's breaks and they don't have much ground to stand on legally so they are going about it in different avenues. I believe Palmers has had a similar issue as sticky lips but it has been under wraps and settled.

I lived in the neighborhood directly adjacent to that chunk of land throughout high school. The land used to be called Crowley's Hill, and we did everything from hunt it, to riding ATVs, Dirt Bikes, snowmobiles and some guys even used to take their trucks up there. The owner didnt mind back then, as it was just left vacant. I cut my teeth hunting there, I think a couple of my old wood stands still hang in the trees. There is still room to bow hunt in there, but since the Regional Market Authority posted it up, there isnt much room left. It is sad to see, I have many great memories of that area.
