Ground blind - stand stool or chair. What's good & comfortable?

Found a perfect spot for a ground blind or stand in gun season.

Cleared shooting lanes, brushed it in & it's kind of an intersection of several travel routes.

Been looing for a comfortable chair or stool.

Basic directors or tripod chairs or even the strap-on seats like the Summit Trophy chair - anything but a cold, hard rock.

Saw this once before, but forgot the name. Saw a review on bowhinting.com and it looked perfect.

Ergonomic, padded, fully adjustable, large foot pads and it swivels - then I saw it was $199.

More inclined to get a $20 collapasible camp chair.

What's evenyone use for their ground hunting blinds or stands?

Sit on the ground turkey hunting, but after a short peroid my knees begin to bother me.

Need to be in a normal sitting position with my legs bent at ~90º, like in a chair.

Years ago, I found a folding camp stool that was made out of tubular aluminum and has a canvas type material for a seat. It weighs nearly nothing and fits nicely in my back pack. Since that time, I have seen all kinds of miniature fold-up stools for sale, but never bought one because my aluminum one works fine.

Depending on how far you walk to get to your stand, weight and size may be a consideration. I have used the folding camp chairs and there's no question they are super comfortable. But they do tend to be heavy and they don't fit in my pack. That's ok when I am just heading down to a stand by the garden (just a few hundred yards from the house), but when I am heading up the hill, weight and size become things I have to consider.

I had a spot once where I couldn't put up a stand and a ground blind would stick out so I snipped some limbs in the brush , took along one of those green plastic chairs , a large black umbrella and a 4' X 4' piece of burlap camo . Saw deer go by at a distance while bow hunting and didn't get a shot until gun season and took a doe with BP . Those plastic chairs are flimsy but the fold-up canvas ones are hard to shoot out of with a bow in a tent blind .

I started out with the collapsible chairs. They were comfortable, but you kind of sink down in them and they are sometimes tough to get out of if you're in a hurry.

I then switched to the 3 legged collapsible stools that swivel (got mine at walmart hunting section for ~$10). If the ground is very soft, the legs will sink down in, but the legs are extendable on mine, so no biggie. Its very nice and convenient being able to swivel around while you're on the lookout. Plus, the stools don't take up as much room as a chair.

If you're planning on a long sit, and maybe squeezing in a nap, a chair with arms would be more comfortable. I sometimes take a hotseat and put on top of the stool to make it a little more cushioned and comfortable.

I use one of the old folding wooden chairs like from the old firehalls & churches use to have yaers ago. It works great & I can sit for hours. I fold it & put a shoulder strap on it & put it over my shoulder & across my chest & can walk for ever. If you put the strap on it right it will stay closed while on your shoulder. It sets up in seconds & won't sink into the ground due to the cross members.

My ground blind set-up for the entire bow season?  I have one of those old style lawn chairs that fold flat.  The one's with the criss cross plastic straps.  I like it because of the arm rests on each side and the seat is flat.  These new chairs that fold into a cylinder have too much pocket in the seat.  Heck I'm usually in the blind an hour before light.  Having the arm rests allows me to take a short nap before the action begins.  The most important thing is to be comfortable.

Hi all I use a plastic outdoor chair from walmart and have a note on it that say I am a physical challenged hunter and please do not remove or take. I have been making blinds up for about 15 years now and have only had two chair taken and since then are less than a 10 bill no big loss. I do find they sure work well for us senior hunters, that have bad back as they do give you support. I am sure they have then at the end of season sale, I got two year ago 4 chairs at $5 buck each ....
