Long Island Deer butchers

I'm being optimistic and planning ahead. If I get a deer bowhunting out east, I would like to haul it right off to the butcher shop as I no longer want to butcher my own. I live in Oyster Bay so I would want the butcher to be near the LIE.

Any recommendations on a butcher for my deer?

I've used the taxidermist/butcher on Sunrise in Oakdale a few times and have not been happy- I'm looking forward to recommendations.

I second the excellent taxidermy job ! Has done lots of work for me and have never been dissatisfied.

Make sure you tell him you want the meat deboned. He did a couple of deer for me and had the "no frills" job done. It was an ok job on the butchering,

excellent on the taxidermy work.

I butcher the meat and vacuum pack it myself and drop off the hide at a taxidermist for tanning. Doing it myself brings me more satisfaction with the entire hunting experience.

Richie at Fins & Feathers is where i would go... The guy Danny in oakdale i hear negative things about although i do have a buddy who still goes there every year.

Richie as great, as for boning out the meat maybe sometimes he has to rush through it I guess if the weather is warm? Can't blame him really. I think archers forum also nutchers deer? I have never been fortunate enough to kill as deer early in the season.

Depending where you are hunting there is a butcher in Southold located at the SeaTow Corporate Headquarters complex of buildings that butchers deer.

Fins, would you be willing to just skin a deer (for a fee of course) and I would take home and butcher I do my own deer from upstate but dont want the ticks associated with LI deer in my yard. Not that you do either I just figure doing as many as you do I am sure you have some way of doing it with precautions in place.

I have used Danny in Oakdale for many years,several deer every year without any problem. You can drop off a deer at anytime, Danny is a great guy. Have had several mounts done there too..great work.

You can drop off a deer for processing at any time at my place..leave a phone# with it and put it behind the gate..

Skinned and butchered my doe yesterday first time very time consuming and I am insane about the tick.controled skinned it immediately and bagged the hide in 4 bags garbage night can come soon enough

if your worried about ticks after you skin and bag the hide you can use tick repellent spray in the bag killing all the ticks

I was at Dick's sports shop the other day and saw a buther name Rich, he is on 131 Conklin Street, Farmingdale. He charges $80 for a deer.

Brought Rich a doe to butcher for me yesterday. First time. Did a good job, and was done in under an hour. Nice guy. Hopefully I'll be back a few more times this season.

If you think $80 is alot to butcher a deer, then you have never cut one yourself. There isn't a tremendous amount of profit once you factor in the cost of freezer wrap,time,equipment,waste disposal, and oh yes, the pleasure of dealing with all the ticks.

Gotta agree with Rich, $80 isn't alot to ask considering what is done, sure upstate they charge a bit less but hey it is Long Island,
