Early
Nah...You are nitpicking: If you plant whatever...to attract whatever...and then shoot that whatever when it shows up....You are baiting and shooting!!! Say different, if you want, but you will be lying!

Early
Guys who plant "food plots" and then shoot the game that come to eat...are just "bait pile shooters". When they whine and say otherwise, they are just trying to cover their asses. Buck up boys...hunt like real men!
bubba
and how do real men hunt may I ask? I doubt you know but I thought I would ask anyway
tughillhunter
ok..... i have nothing to cover. im doing nothing illegal. i have nothing in a pile, other than wood and leaves. now, if i went out and piled an a$$load of cracked corn, some block clover and apples, then yes, i understand the sh!t talk. and fyi, i dont always sit right at the plot. once in a blue moon i will. i have over 600 acres to hunt, so i have lots of places to go. i do it for the qdm. before you run your mouth, know what you are talking about. dave6x6
It is all jealousy, pure and simple. So be real men and admit that. What it really is is hunting Socialism. Its not fair that my neighbor has money and land and a brand new 4 wheel drive tractor. You know how much those cost..... blah blah blah. This is still the land of the free is it not. Why are so many people worried about what we do with our money and land?? Jealousy

bubba
I bet if I invited the criers over to hunt MY land, they would accept food plots yes plural plots or not.
mxsmitz201
What is a food plot? I don't think the DEC has a handle on it yet and they should if they allow it. What are the perameters? Is there minimum and maximum sizes? Crops that can be planted? Do they have this info? To say that an orchard or oak grove is a food plot is by definition. If food plots took as long to grow as these do there would be no food plots. ^^^hunting socialism right there^^^ It is all jealousy, pure and simple. So be real men and admit that. What it really is is hunting Socialism. Its not fair that my neighbor has money and land and a brand new 4 wheel drive tractor. You know how much those cost..... blah blah blah. Its not fair that my neighbor has money and land and a brand new 4 wheel drive tractor. You know how much those cost..... blah blah blah. This is still the land of the free is it not. Why are so many people worried about what we do with our money and land?? Jealousy I'm not sure it's jealousy in general.. some people maybe.. but not most.. I have plenty of money and time for food plots... but I'm not terribly keen on them so I don't plant them... regulating food plots is no more socialistic than regulating a corn pile... or laws against hunting at night... its just making sure that the concept of food plots doesn't get out of hand... food plotting was not originally part of a management program... the original idea was tending to already present food sources and browse... cleaning up orchards, trimming trees things like that... then it went to planting clovers and such to give the deer a little more for the winter.. to full blown hybrid plants and acres and acres of newly introduces foods for the sole purpose of attracting deer.... the original idea was just to maintain the natural food source to give the deer a leg up for the winter months.. the later plan was produced with the intent to attract and hold deer.. one is natural.. the other, not so much... I'm still not totally against them... they just aren't for me... but it has nothing to do with jealousy.

Jealousy Ha-ha .... we have a few little words or phrases that seem to be put into use on this forum whenever frustration sets into these threads. I know that a lot are fond of the word "selfish", as though once that term has been used, opponents are permanently put in their place .... lol. And another all-time favorite is "elitism". Well now we have another one, "jealousy". The only thing that is missing is "So there! nyah-nyah-nyah". "Hunting socialism" ..... ha-ha-ha ... I'll have to remember that one. You can tell that the political season is heating up when people start trying to hook anything and everything to political terms. I will say that it is all pretty entertaining though. Sorry, but that post was so funny that I just had to comment. Your priceless Doc. Here's another one. "narrow minded" Pretty sure you were the first person to throw out the jealousy card when you mentioned the tractors that some of the food plotters have.. Right.. And before that you mentioned that your really ok with plots as long as it 's not used to pull the deer off neighbors property. Sounds like the "hunting Fairness Doctrine". Joe, sorry if my blanket statement seemed to lump you in to the group of hunters that i was referring to.. I know how you feel about plots and i can appreciate your view. You always try to base your opinions on whats best for the health and well being of the deer first and then concider the hunters. Thats a position that most on here can respect and let you work out on your own..
Guns&ReligionCop
Wow this thread spun wildly out of control. Legality is they are legal. Good luck telling people they can't grow crops are their land because it might attract deer. If you don't like them don't use them. If you do and you have the resources share with the rest of us Then everyone will love food plots!

By the way, I make fun of the excessive cars and houses that some people have, that doesn't mean that I am jealous of them. In some cases, I just think they are foolish. And of course they have a perfect right to be foolish, and I have a perfect right to comment about that. And, I guess as it turns out you have a perfect right to mistakenly call that jealousy ..... lol. Interesting where an opinion can lead, isn't it?
