any deer in the new car...hhhmmm now what?...lol

I mentioned in another post the 200.00 Van is slowly dying and Mr. B. found this 2006 Grand Marque with 39,000 thousand miles for $7 thou...couldn't pass it up....the dealers looked it over and said it is mint no sign of rust ...well maintained and a dealer would have to pay $8 thou at action for it...

Good deal...but now that it is my vehicle...what to do when at camp hunting alone...looks like he'll have to drive down and haul my deer back..or I'll have to skin and quarter right away and transport in a tub in the massive truck...

This got me to thinking...what do some of you that don't have trucks or SUV's do during hunting season?

Thanks...he'll have to install a hitch for me...the Van has one...He's actually considering leaving the Van on the road until it completely dies...for short trips to the store...or giving it to our son for a work vehicle.....we'll see....the Van does have brand new studded snow tires....if we ever get any snow this winter....50 out right now....

Those are darn nice, reliable cars and that one does look mint. Good find.....yeah go for the hitch/ hauler deal. I bought a hauler at Harbor Freight tools a while back for 40 bucks. I have always driven trucks, but the hauler was so cheap I grabbed it. Only used it a few times but they work well.

Grow, you didn't go green, LOL. Thought maybe a "smart car?" Seen one with a deer thrown over the top of it. Funniest looking thing. Deer from front to back. Don't know how the driver could see out the windshield. Booting right along, and proud as a pistol.

Your car looks good, smart choice. Can aford to throw some unleaded in it for the $, u bought it for. Some good deals on these bigger cars, rather then throwing $50 thousand out on one of them hybrids.

I have almost always had small cars. I just put a tarp in the trunk, put the deer in, and wrap it with the tarp to keep blood off the rug. More of a problem getting the deer in the trunk if you are by yourself. This year I ended up holding up the head and tying it up. Then I was able to lift the deer in.

I use to have a corrolla about 15 yrs ago that the trunk looked like a mob boss owned it. Hauled alot of pigs and deer in the trunk of that thing. Now I own a Pontiac vibe. All the seat lay down and the backs are hard plastic. Drag the deer up in and away i go. Ive seen body bags for deer. Might want to look into those.

I've made my own "bags" out of tarps and Gorllia tape. Hitch hauler is the way to go, its hard to lift them in a trunk by yourself. If you hang them first or even if its a long drag and it lays, the legs become out streched that becomes a pain to stuff them in.

Oh man, now I can't get that old George Jefferson theme out of my mind ...... "Movin' on up". Sweet looking ride there grow.

In answer to your question, my deer all come to the house via ATV or hand dragging. I just hunt my own hill. On the few occasions that I did any travel for hunting or other transport of deer, we simply strapped the critters onto cargo racks on the roof and then headed to the car-wash afterward. i have been known to push, shove, bend and cram them into the trunk with a plastic tarp to protect the interior. But that practice was ended when I found my first tick in there......Yuck!

Thanks guys...ya first car in 30yrs!!...but how can you beat a price like that...and I'll have to admit...what a smooth ride....though..dang those leather seats are a tad cold in the winter....Mr.B is keeping the van on the road for a bit...I really need to be able to move pruning pole saws....the DR. mower and such for camp as well as deer......Besides...darn thing still runs good even though the service engine light stays on....lol

Doc..... even here at the house...I'll take the van down the road flip my deer in the back, on a tarp and haul it up the hill.....The JD can be a cold ride...and well....I feel like I just stepped out of a WWF ring after wrestling a deer up on the ATV's carry rack....lol

Had he found another 200.00 "beater" car as I call them...would have been just as happy as long as it ran well...vehicles are such a waste of cash...especially for me...I hate to drive...If I lived down South...it would be one of those 3 wheel motor cycles...hey ya never know...maybe yet!!!!....lol

I used to use our mini van with the middle seats out. One day I had a deer wrapped up in the tarp,I was wearing a white long underwear top with the sleeves pushed up.

I had blood on my arms and the sleeves.

Went through a State Trooper inspection sticker road block, they never noticed a thing....
