Mushroom hunting

May apples are up all over so morels should be coming

Took a quick peek today in a spot I found some before....not yet. Wasn’t as warm as they weathermen predicted- shocker!

Was mowing a clients lawn and found 8 or so morels. Didn't pick them as there small. Will they get bigger or go pick em? My mower blades jut nicked the one in the bottom pic.

Good season so far, found a bunch of yellows and blacks. I'll update with pics

Found morels the last 6 days. This is best year I've had since 2012. Anyone else experiencing similar?

I've learned this year that I don't know much about morels. The ones on the truck bed were found on the side of a steep hill under a dead elm. Other than that, most of the others were found under pine, maple, cedar or in grass on the border of grass/woods. I've put a few miles in every day after work this week checking any ash, elm, apple tree I can find and most were not found under any of those. I think soil composition or soil temp/moisture has most to do with it.

I would pic before slugs get them. Remember that spot for next year!

Wasn't purposely looking for morels today but found a bunch. As we were leaving work today, my wife spotted some growing in a grass lawn under some maple trees. Those are the small ones on the seat pic. Later in the day, my wife was on her daily walk and called me and said she found some next to the train tracks. She came home and we took the car down and found 1.5 lbs, some nice big ones.

Wow,you are scoring morels alright.  I was working yesterday and the client came home after a walk with some morels in hand. I guess they are getting ready here too. I will have to head out and check the few spots I know.

My wife found a few more today on side of the road while walking. Heaviest morel so far at 5.4oz.

Went back to same spot tonight after dark and found some more. Today's total haul on the cutting board. Can't believe the year I'm having with morels this year. Hopefully the luck continues into hunting season =)

Went back to mow my clients lawn today. Found 16 morels in there lawn, lol.

Now to somehow keep them cool in my truck for the day.

I'm officially a pro mushroomer. I sold 2.75 lbs of morels to my local restaurant for $120 yesterday, that was the most enjoyable $120 I've ever made!

My wife found another 1/2 lb tonight, hoping to get another lb or 2 in the next few days and sell them again.

This is addicting!

Not sure about blackeadio but Last year i stopped by a local garden market one day after I found a bunch of hen of the woods and just asked one of the guys I know if he was interested. He was but just receive his normal delivery and didn’t think they would sell all of mine and his normal delivery.
My guess is if you know of a regularly producing spot, spot by some local “farm to table” type restaurants and ask to talk to the chef...they will snatch them up

I thought of 3 local high end restaurants that I thought might be interested and messaged them via facebook. 2 replied with interest and I sealed the deal with 1. It was pretty easy.
