A friend of mine who has property next to mine in lake Huntington, said that while driving one night on 97 ,where it intersects with 116,A cow elk ran accross the road from the directions of the river and into the woods. As there are Elk in north central PA,this might not be so improbable. He swears that it was not a large doe,But a cow Elk.Any one in the area ever have such a sighting?

Most elk that escape from game farms have ear tags.. My friend had a raghorn bull walk by his treestand in humphery ny last bow season no ear tags.... Maybe they tore out but at 15 yards he believes he would of been able to see ripped ears. I remember when moose sighttings were few and far between.now we have a few residents thanks to our neighboring state., same is probably happining with pa. bad part is they aren't protected in ny so i guess you can shoot any you see.....

You can't shoot them unless they are in season, and considering there is no season, and no specific tag, I doubt it's legal to shoot them.

Mountain Lions aren't on that list either, but go ahead and shoot one and see what happens to you.  ::(

Although Elk and Mt. Lions aren't listed there is no season for them because there "aren't" any in NY.  Moose are officially protected because there is a viable population here in NY.
