Never tried squirrel nuts, but squirrel brains are considered a delicacy in some areas...A Navy buddy of mine from West Virginia told me that his family loved them and would take rib shots over head shots with thier squirrel rifles to avoid ruining thier favorite part... Since then I have read that it is a somewhat risky practice because because consuming squirrel brains had been linked with Mad Cow Disease ...Or was it MAD SQUIRREL disease..??..

Anyway, I must sign off now..I have a couple of quarts of pickled woodcock gizzards simmering on the stove.
