A Little Bit of Venison

Every deer I've shot but one I butchered since I was 14... Do you two really care who butchers a deer and who doesn't? Life must be a tad boring on your side to worry if others process their deer on their own or not... Some people I would assume do not have the setup or space to do so but enjoy the sport as much as any of us here, does that mean they should be labeled a lesser hunter then you or I or maybe not even hunt due to their processing stradegy?

Jeez you guys must be a blast to hunt with...

I personally don't use processors because I don't like how they cut and am nervous of what meat I'm getting back but I could careless if someone else uses 1. If it has 0 effect on you then why would you care. Last year there was a thread on here where people were bashing each other based on whether they hand there deer from the head or back legs..As if the deer really gives a crap how it's hanging after you slaughtered it

dragging a deer

leaving a poop in the woods

peeing from a tree stand

Who is "you guys"??

Do explain

Anyone who just wants to pull the trigger and kill and do little to NOTHING else.  People can't walk to their stands, need ATV's to get there.  Surely won't expend the energy to drag one out, if they can't even walk on their own two feet.  Once they do manage to kill one and haul it out, then they don't want to get some blood and meat under their fingernails.  To gooey and messy I guess.  Not something that's necessary for a HUNTER of all people to know how to and be encouraged to do.   The only energy these guys expend in the hunting field is when they bend their trigger fingers to pull the trigger or a little arm strength to pull the string on a bow.  These fellas of course will be first to boast about their kills and post pics on the internet for the world to see.  For that they have plenty of time.  If the shoe fits, you are one of these "guys".   Then WE are called the elitist hunters.  Damn, that's the laugh of the year.  Have fun girls, trying to defend yourselves from what I have pointed out here.

No any one that claims to be a hunter that doesn't even attempt to cut their own deer up ever.

No, you are wrong as he is.  While I think its a great thing to learn, experience, and do, it doesn't make you any better of a hunter then someone that doesn't.  And it definitely isn't the deciding factor in if you are a killer or a hunter.

No... Because 90% of the time you pass judgment on others for no reason and generally carry a negative attitude.

The other 10% I enjoy sharing a laugh with you guys. But this topic you guys are pushing is retarded, I'm sorry.

Just curious, if I started throwing around that you two are lesser hunters then I because you don't see the caliber deer as I do would it be cool for me to say on here? And push you either don't do something right or your lesser then I? No it would not be and you would never catch me sayin it. I have some Class...

I don't think guys were crying but they wernt calling you out like you did them. Yes it's an open forum but sometimes we must try to bite our tounges...

I couldn't give a rats azz if somebody cuts their own deer or not. I do think it's a good idea for any hunter to do it at least once though by themselves or with friends because it is  quite the learning experience. And even though it's time consuming, it can also be a lot of fun as has already been said. I for one have cut up so many over the years that I just plain grew tired of it. So did my wife.....lol! She got sick of me messing up the kitchen table as I quartered them outside and used all her good knives, my slicer and grinder to complete the in the kitchen. I used to like to do my own because it saved me money, I was always convinced I would not get "my" deer back, and I liked to see the whole story of where my shot placement was and where it ended up. She would actually fry up the inside tenderloin as I (we) were cutting the deer up, and we would eat them as we were cutting.

Personally I wont take a deer to a place that runs an assembly line or throws them in a pile like that, but that just my personal preference. Luckily I do have a fella who has been cutting mine up for twenty years, at least those I don't want to do myself. His dad taught him the trade as he was a lifelong butcher at our local grocery store. When I take them there it is  always the same thing, "I want my back straps whole..............every other ounce of the meat I want turned into breakfast and hot sausage". He makes great sausage and I burned out along time ago on steaks, chops and what not. He does one at a time and I know I get mine back and not somebody else's.

wow dude. I get called out quite a bit here for my beliefs, but you need to accept that there are all types of hunters out there. As long as they're safe and ethical then they're ok with me. I laugh at what we call "clown hunters" but I don't scold them for their ways. It's fun to bs and debate but if someone is only going to gun hunt opening weekend in a blind with a gas heater and shoot a spike horn, then that's them. This would not be someone in "my circle" of hunting buddies but I think it's tough to be a hater on them. Again, assuming they're safe and ethical. Ethical of course having a wide variety of varying definitions.

Oh Jeez, you guys sound like those 300 lbs professional football players who are crying and suing that they have been bullied by coaches and other players.  I guess political correctness and the never say anything bad or negative mentality has crept into the hunting world too.

I don't get bullied... Period...

I'm simply looking at it from the flip side of your beliefs in something I do not fit in but see other angles of things aside from my own and yours. You sound like the guy at work always crying about what others are or not doing work wise. Lol it's starting to make sense now.

As far as passing judgment and being negative? PAALLLEEAASSEE  Yes Im so negative I offer to help strangers and give away gear to those who are just starting out,,ya thats negative.

The simple fact is a bunch of guys are thin skinned and don't want to ever do any actual work involved in hunting, and when made fun of get all bent out of shape. Well boohoo cry me river guys.
