ApexerER
I just had a nice buck run in front of my truck. It was with a group of about 8-10 doe. I was shocked that it still had its antlers in March. That typically isn't normal is it?

Doc
Ok, here we are in March again this year. Anybody getting any antler pictures now. I am curious as to whether the weather has any effect. It isn't supposed to, but who knows? Perhaps as a evolved energy savings during a cold or long winter they March antlers might come off a bit earlier than usual. It would be interesting to see if that turns out to be the case.

JALA RUT
A few years back, actually about 6 years ago, while scouting for turkeys first week of April I was shocked when I spotted a nice bedded buck in a ravine. That's the only time I've seen one with antlers still in April but I have seen a few with them still in March.
Hardcore
I have definitely seen bucks still carrying in April. I have also shot deer in late December that had the antler come loose by dragging. The better health and condition of a buck the longer the deer holds the antler is the prevailing scientific theory. A drop in testosterone is what triggers the process..... CantrellTaxidermy
I have picked up 9 sheds so far, but was out this weekend and saw 4 with both sides, and got a call from a buddy who was out and had 12 bucks chasing and grunting, 8 full racks and 4 half racks. The day before I thought i heard a buck grunting in the brush as well.

Bone Seeker
Holding antlers this long is supposed to be a sign of good feed. That's good news for the herd with the winter weve had.
