RangerClay
With all the hand tools I see on the road. Intersections, on-ramps, intersections etc. are littered with hand tools. Over the years I've picked up (WHEN SAFE) a kinds of good tools and some junk that I wished I didn't stop for. My best score was a Mac 3/8" drive spark plug ratchet. Box ratchets, pliers, screw drivers (SnapOn, Mac, Craftsman etc) plus other odd ball stuff like gasket scrapers, hook tools and pry bars. It's fun scouring the edges of roads for all the odd treasures. I know for a fact I have found in the past 25 years 4 wallets (and all returned to their rightful owner within hours) and countless cell phones, also all returned to owners. What's your best find on the roadside? (EDIT TO ADD.......I know of two tools right now, one at the intersection of Maple & North Forest and one on the 290 that are too dangerous to grab. Make sure use your head if you want to grab some of these goodies!) Do you just happen to see it laying there when driving or do you walk the roads? I travel rte 81 everyday and never see anything. ny hunter
I have found a few tools on the road sockets wrenchs.Tools are the one thing I do not need any more of so I bring them too a local service station..The owner has boxes filled with tools people bring him. When he hires a young man who wants to break into the field he starts them out with what he can...With tools costing what they do I thought that was great.. landtracdeerhunter
Picked up a good dresser, a pool pump and filter, a nice 16" tire on a rim, and my best find was a faded $100 bill that had been driven over several times. Took it to the bank, and they give me a nice new crisp one. If this counts, I found $182 under my foot once at Empire Farm Days. That I give back to it's owner. Good for you..Unfortunately there are tons of people out there who would watch a person, unknowingly drop money on the ground, and then wait for the person to walk away so that they can take it and even brag about it…I think the technical term for such a person is "scum bag". Pygmy
Larry....You didn't find the top to my 12 pack cooler near Honeoye, did you ? It's RED.... I had that cooler for 30 years..Lost the top of it on the highway 3 times...First two times I went back and found it. This time I think it's gone.. I forgot to put up the tailgate on my pickup once and lost my chain saw. I backtracked pronto and it was gone already. I figured it was gone but went to the village Police Dept. just in case some good samaritan had turned it in. Just as I got there, the head of the village maintenance crew was walking into the station with my saw to turn it in to lost & found. First-light
Few seasons ago we are driving down Rt 17. There in the road a hunting boot, then a few more, some blaze orange jackets and vests. It continued until we saw a truck on the side of the road. The car top carrier opened up and stuff was flying out. Too funny!
Lawdwaz
Do you just happen to see it laying there when driving or do you walk the roads? I travel rte 81 everyday and never see anything. Both........ I grabbed a 1/2" - 9/16" box ratchet and a screwdriver on a 3 mile walk in April but most are spotted on turns are just down the street from a service station. You're going too fast on 81 and it'd be pretty dangerous with the traffic and distracted drivers. Oh yea, the highway crews get all the good stuff.
