growalot
Ground bees are a tad nasty this year...here they are showing up in odd places so I've been hit twice both in pretty open areas ...the other day on the edge of feild ...bent down to toss a big rock into hedge row...WHAM ..got base of rt. thumb...before I could stand or even swear WHAM! base of lft. thumb....don't know how I ran so fast but stopped to look back and they were sworming not far away...continued to run...so be careful out there...Mr B asks how I can go out in long pants and long sleeves all summer with that big wide rimmed hat on...well he's never ran into ground bees or swarmed by deer flies....which are rather numerous this year as well....

Cabin Fever
I DREAD my late August (last) mowing of the year, because of ground nesting yellow jackets! I disturbed 3 different nests 2 years ago and they put a whoopin' on me! Thank God I'm not allergic!
wooly
Every year around this time I start to get excited I haven't been nailed yet all summer....... then I get blasted when the goldenrod turns to make up for it,lol Last year I had the same thing happen to me that happened to Grow. Walked over a ground nest and got hit on the calf by a yellow jacket. The swarm came out of the hole and I made a run for it. A 1/4 mile down the creek I stopped to catch my breath and they were all over me again. I think I got stung 5x's total over a mile dash through the timber to my front door! One of these days I'll learn to put some pants on!
fasteddie
If you GOOGLE ground bees , they claim they are not aggressive . B.S. ! I have been caught off guard a few times by not knowing they were there . Once one of them stings you , others can track you down . I got rid of some a few years ago with a Bee Bomb that I bought from Country Max and made a video . Now if I can find that ............. I uploaded it on You Tube again but have to wait for it to be able to post . Here it is ...................... http://youtu.be/74aAFRkPgJo

Zag
Grow u must have heard my voices last night. I borrowed my dads jd equipped with bucket and backhoe. So I'm moving a pile of dirt/brush with the bucket I noticed what looked like bumblebees, I turned it off jumped an ran. Luckily I didn't get stung, I did however manage to disturb a yellow jacket an bumble bee nest. Bee spray and gas did the trick and I got the tractor moved with no hassle, have no idea how I didn't get stung.
