WOW I have been on LI for over 40 years and never had any rain like this morning.  I know you guys and gals upstate get some heavy rains at times but this was just unreal and very local.

Over 12 inches with five inches in about a hours time.  CRAZY!!!  The storm came from the south and dumped so much rain that many of our roadways where closed and many people stuck at home.  It barreled across Islip into Middle Island and over to the North shore.

Anyone have any pictures or video of the flood?

We feel you up here.

They recently finished replacing a couple bridges that we lost when Irene hit us in Orange county.

After Irene hit, I couldn't go anywhere except into town through 3-4 inches of water.  All the major roads were under water, and a mudslide blocking the  NYS Thruway.  Couldn't get to work for two days between the flooded roads and downed trees.

At least we had a heads up to check/clean the gutters before Irene hit.
