Opening day --- SNOW !!

As of now, they are calling for snow on opening day !!! I know it's 10 days in advance, and they can't predict the weather 1 hour in advance, but I'm getting excited !! The temperatures look good too.

Shot my doe last weekend in the snow, so the weatherman may just get it right this time. But like you said its too far in advance to tell.

Its about time the Deer gods bless us with some Opening day snow or even cold temps, It seams like in the past few yrs here in the Finger lakes we have had either Rain, wind, or warm.

I'd be happy with the temps being 39 high 19 low.  My son and I usually bow hunt friday morning, then head up to camp.  If the weather is going to stay cold like that, I think there's a chance of possible flu symtoms coming about on Weds afternoon and they usually last at least 2 days.  Poor guy.

Saw that this morning. Starting Wednesday of next week only in the 30's for highs. Snow/snow showers Saturday.

If I could be greedy I would like snow on Friday the 14th. Then a 35 degree day with no wind on Saturday. That way their isn't snow falling and limiting visibility on opening day.

Getting ready to hunt 6N Fri, Sat & Sun with the guys from camp and a high school buddy rolling into town.  Cannot wait, Snow, Full Moon & the Rut cranking up.  Wishful thinking but...God, please let us knock down a Buck each (cannot hunt Doe there) so we can spend all day Sat around the campfire lying about how easy it was to shoot em!

Where in 6 N? I was thinking about heading up there tomorrow in rain. Redfield or Montague for me.

 

Then down to 7M to bow hunt and get ready for gun opener next weekend.

Having wished for snow, last year on opening day, 65 degrees outside, I got a deer.   Maybe the orange army pushed him, but he wasn't spooked.   Just strolling through the forest.

I just found out today that i will actually be able to get out for opening day. I dont care if theres snow on the ground, as long as theforecast temps hold up, ill be happy.

As long as I am in the woods with family/friends and not at work, I will take whatever mother nature has to offer. But I do like hunting in the snow.

Last year was as good as it gets on Saturday, cold and a couple inches of fresh snow. Forecast is the same this year

Oops I took time off the following week. 

 

Guess it should be a little quieter then.  Got to finish the yard work this weekend then somewhere between 2 Play productions, a family event and getting my son to a college interview.

 

Snow sounds good for finding fresh tracks or following a blood trail.  Time to get the snow tires on.
