The dude that runs the bow counter at BPS Auburn told me that earlier this year someone got arrested in Seneca Falls for using an undersized xbow 

 He said they got two years in jail and loss of license for life .. he said “ it’s poaching “

Agree,,, I was looking at a crossbow that was not NY compliant and he was telling me this story

lol.  I have talked with a couple fellas that wear badges and they said they would never charge anyone with a crossbow that was not stupid Ny legit. Of course there are plenty that would I’m sure but this story here sounds pretty off the wall. Like Al said, guy would be charged a hell of a lot less for a worse crime.

BS. When they catch poachers red handed on feeders at night with multiple deer shot from a car, they get a slap on the hand. Myself, I believe game law penalties are woefully ineffective....when you read about the "cuffs and collars", most are repeat offenders.

If someone got a ticket for an under-sized crossbow, me thinks it's a situation where they were poaching or doing something painfully stupid, and multiple citations were written - the old "throw everything at them and see what sticks".

No way DEC randomly measured someone's crossbow and wrote 'em up....
