Good way to leave a lot of elderly folks defenseless.  I can just see the home invasion levels increasing now.  Maybe this is part of ObamaCare.  One of it's death panel objective operations.

Don't know enough about it yet.. Is it ALL SS recipients or just those who collect SS for specific reasons?  Like  for mental problems? Does  Grandpa have to choose between his guns or his check??

Police protection is an oxymoron:  Free citizens must   protect themselves because police do not protect you   from crime; they just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Obama is proposing taking guns away from anyone on SSI if they have someone else managing their check book for them.  He's trying to say any level of diminished capacity is grounds for removing your 2nd Amendment rights.  

 

Someone could be in a wheelchair due to paralysis below the waist and using someone else to do their banking.  Obama would take his guns.

 

Democrats have NEVER seen a gun ban proposal they did not like!!  They want ALL guns banned.  If you ever cast a vote for ANY Democrat, you are helping them attain this goal!

Realize also, taking guns from seniors prevents them from passing them on to their heirs.

What a waste of time, this will never fly. As a life long hunter ( 74 year old ), with 7 guns and on SS.

I can not think that the house or senate would support a bill to change your right to own a gun..

 

.I think in NY we have to be more worried about a local NY bill that says you have to have insurance to cover each gun you own, this would be like auto insurance.

Just when you thought they’ve tried every trick up their sleeves to disarm American citizens, the creative minds within the Obama administration have come up with a new idea.

Because seizing firearms from veterans has been so successful, they figure they can give it a shot on a much more massive scale, and they’ll be using a Presidential Executive Order to make it happen.

This time the President will be targeting 4.2 million Americans who are receiving Social Security benefits for disarmament:

Seeking tighter controls over firearm purchases, the Obama administration is pushing to ban Social Security beneficiaries from owning guns if they lack the mental capacity to manage their own affairs, a move that could affect millions whose monthly disability payments are handled by others.

The push is intended to bring the Social Security Administration in line with laws regulating who gets reported to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, which is used to prevent gun sales to felons, drug addicts, immigrants in the country illegally and others.

A potentially large group within Social Security are people who, in the language of federal gun laws, are unable to manage their own affairs due to “marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease.”

Bill, the trouble is this stuff is being implemented by Executive order, bypassing the Congress.  We need to be worried, very worried, about every threat to our 2nd Amendment rights.  It a "death by 1000 cuts" agenda being implemented to reach the goal of total disarmament.

Let's see, drug addiction is considered a disability. Could it be those are the folks with "diminished capacity" being flagged by this?

From what I've read, anyone not capable of managing their own finances are the first target.  Military Vets suffering from PTSD are next.  I've also read the BATFE is now involved and is proposing many more categories that should be targeted.

 

People need to realize, what they are proposing violates all protections of due process.  Rights cannot be removed without due process, in a free country anyway.

Scary thing is that some people here think that if Obama says this is right thing to do, it must be right thing to do. Forget about the second amendment, we think its right cause Obama says so. That's the scary part.

This is all in concert with the desire to have "Universal Background Checks" as all of these administrative agencies are required to send all of this data to NICS.  It will then be used for a denial when one of these people tries to buy a gun.

 

The idea is to get as much prohibitive info as possible into NICS to effect as many denials as possible, thereby negating any claim you even have a 2nd Amendment right to own a firearm.  Your "right" will be removed for anything the government decides qualifies you to lose it.

I've have told people in the past, universal background checks are not a good thing, require registration of all firearms and will be used to deny your rights.  Those who have no foresight, believe government is their friend, and refuse to be open minded about the possibilities, still think the idea is paranoia.
