Does only for the first 2 weeks. Thoughts?

I have a funny feeling that when the numbers are in at the end of the year the DEC will be surprised how their little plan didn't work... unless they fudge the numbers that is... nah, they wouldn't do that would they?

If they report honestly I am betting they don't get the take they had previously before they got this brainfart. ....I mean brainstorm.

The early muzzleloader season, along with the Columbus day weekend youth hunt,  was part of the 3 part deal and promised us when the bowhunters got their Oct. 1 opener.  

 

The proponents of the early muzzleloader season and the youth hunt fully supported the bow hunters in their quest for an earlier Oct. 1 opener in this 3 part deal.

 

After getting the Oct. 1 bow opener, NYS bowhunters had the early muzzleloader season killed pulled from the deal.  They got what they wanted.  

 

And they fight  yearly against the Youth Hunt.

 

If we are fortunate enough to get the early Muzzleloader season, it will only be what was promised. 

 

They never said there will be a early ML season for the whole state. They have said they may put early ML in for the zones that need the herd thinned, in other words the zones with the doe only rule for the first 2 weeks.

The program is 2 years any way. Enjoy another 2 weeks of doe only in 2016.

 

Ill be killing my does, and the same number of them, but Ill do it when I can make the choice on what sex of deer I want to shoot.

This plan was set up to fail in any way shape or form the DEC wishes because no concrete info was provided.

do you think the does care if they are killed with a gun vs a bow?

I can tell you there sure aren't a whole lot of trucks along the road in this area thats for sure!

Exactly. The DEC saw how many of us didnt participate and they rescinded it.

 

BTW, I killed 5 does last year and zero bucks. I did my part without participating in that nonsensical 2 weeks.
