grampy
At 58, I don't hunt from trees much anymore. Can't imagine being in one at 70. And definitely not without a harness!
fasteddie
I don't hunt from a tree stand unless I have a harness on .
Hock3y24
I won't get in a hang on with out a harness, I still don't wear one in my ladder stands. Probably should.
Doc
It happens every year, and more often than you might think. Our family was touched by this same kind of tragedy a couple years ago. When we think we are invincible, that's when something real nasty will happen. Buy and use the proper safety gear or stay the hell out of the trees. nybuckboy
Every stand on my property has a hook setup for a harness. No excuse not to wear one for us.
Nomad
Most falls happen climbing into and out of stands. One needs to be clipped in when starting the climb up and unclipped when back on the ground.
nyslowhand
This should serve as the annual "wake-up" call for treestand safety on this forum. Aside from the obvious need for safe life-line & harness use, climbing tree stands have their own distinct set of issues. If you use one, please visit youtube and view some of the videos about how to recovery from a climber &/or hang-on incident. If you're not prepared (mentally) for any of these unforeseen accidents, they could be fatal!!!!
