G-Man
Close but no cigar today, one of the biggest toms I've ever seen led me on a chase around the woods as he tended hens, at 730 am he was alone and came in quiet at 40 yards, I waited till he was behind a tree and raised the gun.. doesn't he turn behind the tree ans walk straight up the hill when he pops out he's 65 yards and walking away.... another day I'll catch up to him again..

DirtTime
No body out tday? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I think this rain is getting to people. Unless you have a pop-up blind or similar after 30 minutes in the woods you are soaked.I'm setting the alarm for tomorrow, but it will depend on rain if I go out. Friday looks better. Then the weekend looks crappy.

DirtTime
Capitol district, and today was rain all day again. If I had a pop-up blind I might head out in the rain. But, just sitting under a tree even in a light rain for 7 hours stinks.

DirtTime
you need to buy a camo umbrella that straps around your tree. Best $15 I've ever spect. I use it in my treestand too. I've had a few in the past. They are great as long as there is no wind with the rain. A little wind and they really don't work all that great. Appreciate the tip though turkeyfeathers. Soft called him in , came in silent , started puttin and I waited till he popped behind a tree , raised up, when he stuck his head out boom, paced it off at 39 yds ... He was just about to disappear below the rise .... ants
I couldn't get out this morning. Just to drive myself crazy I took a ride past the property i hunt, late yesterday afternoon. Yup..nice big tom in full display out in one of the fields, a hundred or so yards from the tree line. Im sure there were more with him past the little rise he was on. Im almost positive where he roosted last night and I know exactly how to slip in and set up. Been bugging me since last night. I have taken birds in that same spot. I'll definitely be out in the morning.

DirtTime
Congrats deerpassion! I went out later then I normally would. Left the shock call in the truck and just went and sat across the road from the spot I have been sitting in. I still heard nothing, but did see two deer. So it was an OK day. Stopped and got an extra set of camo pans and treated them with Sawyers. Weekend weather here is looking like crap. Giving serious thought to buying a blind.

Guess I did leave the details out ... Just a really healthy 2 year old , 8 in beard, 7/8 in Spurs , and didn't take a scale to him but he was on the heavier side ....
