This morning reminds me of turkey hunting back down south. But I'm ok with that because they have far more birds. I was hoping I could save some butane for later but I have the thermacell fired up already. No gobbles yet

All is quiet up here so far. Cuckoo down the hill and a few deer in field.

Haven't tried scratching yet...I have decoys but in an area they can't see them. I believe they have hens with them cause I heard a bunch of them right in the area they moved too

Day 16. Little turkeyfeathers with me today. Hunting til 10 or so then she's got 3 hours of ballet. Good luck today everyone.

Hopefully,  she'll have to miss ballet class for a nice big turkey.

Long story short I had gobblers in all directions and go figure when one gets close I'm facing the wrong side of the tree. Then was calling in a Tom when a hen flies down and that was that. Great action, will probably make this an early one today

They keep going back and forth. They come pretty close and then start moving off, just for them to come closer later on. They seem to like purring though

Thought about that, but they're are a lot of hens that are just milling about around. In fact I went to move my decoy and saw 3 hens moving parallel. I don't think they saw me because they just casually fed away, but it's possible they did

man that's risky with all them eyes out there and crunchy with no wind to boot. But you're right, time to pull out all the stops. Frank's hot sauce on tags and tags still eat poorly Our field would be perfect for a belly crawl to hung up birds.

Live from Hogan's deli/ mini mart in Java on the way home. Thanks Law for the suggestion. Fried bologna , garlic bread w/cheese and daughter had a Mexican chicken melt.

Oh yeah , great tom sighted mile down road from where we hunt. Crossed road 100 yards in front of us. Subaru almost went four wheeling to get him. That bastid

Well those birds ended up working off as soon as I saw that flock of hens headed towards them. Only heard a few distant gobbles. Decided to take a walk and I found an interesting track. I have an idea of what it is, but I'd like to hear what you guys think.

So flying solo today. Lil one this morning said she's going to take the day off. Hope today ain't the day for birds to be stupid and not tomorrow. Had to jam on the brakes again for yet another trio of fox pups. Day 17 about to begin. Owls are hooting nicely this morning. Good luck to all. And what a warm walk in. I'm soaked with sweat.

Nary a sound ... again. No deer to watch. Going to take my first ever nap in the woods. I set claymores next to dekes in case they sneak in silent.

   Nothing, but mosquitos and deer. Had a doe bring in her fawns. Tails flinching like mad. Cut it with a knife muggy. Looks to be a threating kind of day, weather wise.  Came in for breakfast and a thermocell refill. Good luck, everyone out.

I went back to a spot in Marilla, busted a bird off the roost, Heard 1 fly down about 5:30, moved to where i thought i heard the bird fly down about an hour later and busted another off the roost! I think in hind sight it was probably the same bird, I think I heard it fly up!. Got 1 gobble at 7:30 re positioned myself and gave a little call.. boom he gobbled right back..never heard him again, I may have bumped him when I relocated to get in a better position? Thermacell ran out of fuel, can't stand the bugs, I quit for today.
