Take your youngster bream fishing, maybe your wife to catch some bass, be the guide n keep it fun w both. Leave your gear home the first couple times n concentrate on the newbies. How bout taking your teenager n his/her friends bow fishing or a 3D shoot? Five Seasons
I had a shot Saturday but it wasn't a great shot and after losing a bird this season I decided against it. I really wanted to go out Monday morning but had too many margaritas the day before. No tags filled for me, but I'm not a diehard and still enjoyed my time in the woods. stoneam2006
I took a youth out for his first season a few times...with his scouts baseball and being at his mom's we only made it out 2 times both times were a blast and 1 time we got rained on pretty good...having him experience the woods waking up and gobbles off in a distant got him itching for next season...good thing I'm a way better deer hunter than turkey I will get him in front of a deer this youth season...knock on wood... On to fishing season...old man caught this in Canandaigua sat night Oh and the never ending chipmunk season Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk Edited May 31, 2016 by stoneam2006
DirtTime
Turkey season might be over, but there's always something to do in the outdoors. Camping, fishing, hiking, boating... I didn't kill a bird, and it was a tough season, not just for a novice like me either. But, it's gone and now it's time to fish and camp.

Deerthug
My summer plans are building a door for my woodshed, building a wishing well, building a new door for my old shed, and shooting my XBow. Hope to get a couple of 2 man stands up at camp for my son and me to use. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2
reeltime
leaving on a turkey scouting trip to nebraska in the morning, may even go as far as wyoming. then when I get back will be getting the boat in the water, try to get caught up on work and then right into hay season..... looking like a good yield here this year hope to get back up towards 6000 bales here, my hay in pa is looking banner this year and should not have any problems getting 3000 bales there. at some point I need to at least get the new duck/perch boat in the water or at least get it painted and the removable blind rigged up, I bought it a couple months ago, brought it to a buddies barn put it in there and haven't seen it yet. want to do a ton of work to it for duck hunting but have been a tad busy lately. Bowguy 1
What's your plan?About what I mentioned, cept the wife thing I'm divorced. We did fish a lot n she even turkey hunted w me. My kids are teenagers n busy some weekends so I'll be helping the girl I mentor (Saige) get ready to kill her first deer. We came close last fall. When they aren't busy, shooting, fishing, hiking, picking berries. I generally take a friends of theirs and that friends family with us to shoot a little in summer. Brings new folks in that'll never be against us later on. And of course my own family I'm also an archery instructor n gonna be teaching kids and women's classes every weekend my kids aren't around plus I teach hunter ed. Of course a bunch of 3D with my kids, Saige n myself. Edited June 1, 2016 by Bowguy 1

wooly
Hope this doesn't sound too selfish, but summer time is ME time! Most of my free time now will be spent in the woods solo. Moving blinds and stands around, exploring new areas, observing and photographing deer at the fields, general nature hikes and random photo shoots, drinking beer..., stuff like that, lol. Most anything I do now alone in the field will benefit myself and anyone who tags along with me this fall.(even though it may not appear that way on the surface) It's nice to have all the pressure of "hunting season" finally be lifted, and now it's time to just get out there and enjoy the activities and encounters I appreciate most for what they truly are..... relaxing, and just as rewarding as any hunt!
LET EM GROW
I try to take my 22 month old daughter with me everywhere I go. Start her young.. Some may be against it but, I even let her shoot with me, a .22 pistol I have.. she loved it. She hates being inside, she will drive us absolutely nuts until we take her outside to play and roam around, so i take her anywhere i can. whether its on the boat, the woods, the wheeler, the tractor.. you name it. Shes an outdoor baby for sure!!! I look forward to every memory we can make... On top of that.. my summer is always spent, fixing and staying up on camp projects, my Dad was taken from us too soon in March, so its all on me now. ITs hard being there without him but i cherish all the good times. The picnics every other weekend, family BBQ all the time Food plots, hang trail cams when July rolls around.. prep stands. Id like to build a box blind for my fiance this summer, but with a July 30th Wedding, my time is limited this year, as well as finances.. lol This is my daughter Alivia and I going to till a food plot 2 weekends ago.. she loved it...

turkeyfeathers
ive got two sheds to build doors for, we can start a "Live from the wood shop" thread, lol won't that be entertaining? I'll be banned for bad language in the first hour If I buy the beer can I come over and watch the entertainment ? I notice my deck stairs are more or less rotting away and settling . I have no idea how to fix or rebuild as I'm far from handy so I'm going to have to hire someone to do that job.
The_Real_TCIII
How many steps? You can usually get stringers pre made at lowes, HD, etc
turkeyfeathers
How many steps? You can usually get stringers pre made at lowes, HD, etc 4 I believe Thanks for the tip Ok, looked at Home Depot on web. So I rip out old stairs. Nail in stringers ,cut 2 x 4's to size and start mounting them to stringer ? Do I need something to prevent from settling under ground end of stringer ? heck, I might be able to handle that. The stringer part looks very helpful for sure. That might be a 3 beer project. Edited June 1, 2016 by turkeyfeathers
The_Real_TCIII
Aren't there some flagstones or something under the stringers now? I can try and come by but if I get caught doing a project at your house my wife will be waiting at home with a pillowcase full of doorknobs! I may have to lie and say I'm going fishing
