Recommended Posts

Now I may sound like I'm bragging,,,but darn it...... I have some beautiful plots on my place and GREAT food...not one single deer on any of it...save the oak trees..I do love my pictures...I check cams and the oaks are they only thing to see deer and not even all the oaks....How could they pass these up????

I talked to the UPS guy and he said he passed that bean field behind me and he has NEVER seen so many deer in such a relative small field This from a guy who see's a lot of land and deer...I know one thing...I'm going to find out exactly what kind of beans they are...All the earlier planted ones were either green harvested or now left to dry with long Thin pods on them...He said the harvesters are in the area so it won't be long for those...but this is a very late field...I may still have them around until archery....

These are all red...no wht. a on this side of the hill...I've had good drops in the past and no plot abandonment...it has to be them gorging  on the field of beans...then walking to the acorns on the way to the swamp to bed down..I doubt he'll ever plant them again, there won't be much left....

Yes they are...the UPS guy said there are some really nice buck in the group...he is a big buck hunter so his word is good.I know once the corn and beans get cut I'll be the only game in town for both. Even the over grown plot below is filled with beans, sunflowers ,hemp, clover and sorghum under all that tall grass a nd weeds...I walked it yesterday...The tall grass and sorghum will protect the rest during first frosts.

Just frustrating knowing they are here just not where I expect...I plan on driving over and cladding them from the road tonight. I Have a feeling others have as well..which may be why we got yesterday's unwelcome visitor. They are watching where they are entering and leaving the field.

yea, if there is a destination bean field around you, that is where they'll be summer time no doubt. My soybeans did nothing this year. Very minimal plants grew

Last year on a neighboring piece, there were soybeans planted in 1 big field and in another big field right next to it there was a different bean planted, not sure what it was. The plant was lighter green in color than soys, and the beans were thinner and longer. Like a green bean, but that was the field the deer preferred. Even over the soybeans. Nearly everyday and night. Giants, young bucks and does, always flooded this field, until they harvested them, End of September they then switched over to soybeans.. Probably half the reason my soybeans did so well last year.

That's what I'm hoping.. This year I let the grass and weeds for cover...seeds be damned...The corn grew shorter than I like but tall enough to screen and is now getting ears on it...the sun flowers are very short but budding out and the sorghum still has some time to head out....If not it is great cover/bedding. I'm hoping to get our son here during bow...but he hasn't gotten one on his place yet, so he's been staying there/camp He has a lot of bear as well.

IT'S NOT KILLING ME NOW......They cut the beans...We stopped to visit with the beef farmer on the way home...Mr.B.worked with him in construction before he retired to farm full time..he was cutting his alfalfa. As we spoke at 4 pm the cut beans next to where he was working had 27 deer feeding in it...Lol..My corn got hit last night and they bedded in my bean hemp plot ...cams had buck doe and fawn. Now I stay clear of all plots during any heavy movement times...11am-1PM will be the only Time's I do  anything...heat of the day. Now if they would just visit this corn..Well perhaps mid Sept.
