First, I preheat the oven. Then, I open the package and break the cookies apart. I space them out 1.5-2" apart, although if we are being honest I love when a few merge together creating a supper cookie. Bake them 9-11 minutes and eat as many as I can before the kids find out I made them. Results may vary

I like to bake, both grandmothers did so and mom some;

One of my favorites; Eastern European cookie called Kifle (pronounced key-flea); I make these all the time. Got good with these and a homemade small sheetmetal camp oven I take on fishing trips using fresh blackberries for filling with some sugar.

Basic dough recipe....

1/2 cup sour cream+ tbs hot water+1 pkg dry yeast let stand a few minutes, maybe 3-5 minutes.

1/2 cup soft butter+1/2 cup all purpose flour........then add yeast mix+2 egg yolks(room temp)

Add 1 more cup of flour and maybe a little more to get a dough texture not too wet, up to another 1/4 cup or so.

place in fridge for 2 hours but overnight is better

Traditionally you roll out about a third of the dough into a circle and 8 cut wedges to put in filling and roll them up to the point end......easier way......

Roll out dough to about 1/8" thick and use a 3" round cutter. Place about a light tbs of jam in the center and fold them over to make a half circle....pinch with a fork and prick them so steam escapes.

I like apricot jam, but my mother used home made blackberry. Grandmother used traditional walnut filling; 1 cut fine chop+1/2 cup sugar+3/4 cup boiled milk (just warm)to make a walnut paste.

375 oven for about 20 minutes. Light greased pan.

Can dust them with powdered sugar too.

Yum.

I just scanned this really quick but it appears you omitted the chocolate chips.  Must have been a typo?  :rolleyes:

Hello Dolly's! My favorite.

Sis makes these for our hunting snack bags from one of dead Grammas old recipe cards!

I'm sure you've had them before so this is just the first one I found online in case I had the name wrong.

Nothing and I mean NOTHING compares to Hello Dollies.  MY grandma used to make them and they were unreal.  My sister does a heck of a bang up jump on them too.  In a pinch, Dash's makes some that'll knock your socks off.......trust me.:wink:
