grampy
Right ! No Deer ! Two different properties . Four of my best proven set up's. And I haven't had a shot all season! My grandson and I did see a couple shooter bucks fighting last Saturday. But way out too far. I did pass on a couple little bucks early on, but mostly I've seen no deer at all! Got plenty of bucks on cam, mostly at night. Scrapes and rubs everywhere and new ones almost daily ! So far, this has been the most frustrating season in years for me. Seems like no matter what spot I hunt, the deer are somewhere else. But that's hunting! I'm still pumped, and expect to close the deal, every time out! Next couple weeks are going to be good with quite a few days to hunt. The fat lady hasn't sung yet and it aint over till it's over! If anyone else out there, is having a frustrating season too. Stay positive ! I am! It can all change in a heartbeat.

turkeyfeathers
Blinds look just fine . It's only a matter of time now. Heck , daughter and I were pulling great day pics and lots of bucks leading up til youth season. Figured selective shooting for her with a few nice 8's and a 10. We saw zero deer and I was amazed at that. There's no doubt in my mind you built blinds set on sign and good locations. In do time you and your grand son will connect. Not much of a betting person but I'd throw money down on that.
DirtTime
We have a lot of time left. Never over until it's over. Don't start looking up recipes for tag soup just yet. You guys will drop a deer or two before it's all said and done.
grampy
Although I've eaten tag soup in the past. I found it tastes much better with a slice of humble pie. I don't "have" to "kill" anything to have a great hunt/season. That being said, I am still hoping to help my grandson get his first deer. A nice young doe or shooter buck, it doesn't matter. He can shoot good groups out to 25 yards. But he is not comfortable shooting more than 15 yards at a deer. Normally that is no problem! As we do have a fair number of deer. And great set-ups. But for a variety of reasons, he has not been out hunting as much as I'd hoped. And that is fine. I'll never pressure him to go and always try to make our time together hunting, as fun as possible. Being that he is 12, his "hunting" season will end at the beginning of firearms season. So hoping this next two weeks, I can get him out there when the deer do show up! kpkot
Pics look good. Fortunately the best hunting is yet to come. Maybe u should get an atomic fireball vending machine for the blind?
dbHunterNY
a lot going on right now that makes quantity of sightings potentially take a dive. it's about to change as it's November now. they'll start to settle in just before action starts to ramp up. this morning was pretty chilly and the days are getting noticeably
NFA-ADK
Keep at it Grampy blind looks good and prime time is just getting started! The only thing I would add to that blind would be higher cover to mask your outline. I never like when deer can see me from every angle. I would not change a thing this year but next season I would make that blind into a fort with a pine roof! I would also cut up some of those fallen trees to make an easy path past your blind. You would be surprised how the deer will follow a path you lay out for them and if you hinge cut or drop a few more trees it will make that path the main runway. Nothing you probably don't know already but your woods look nice! If you change nothing you will be fine! Good luck and keep at it! Like Moog says the best is yet to come!
wooly
Are those hemlocks..? Might still be too warm for rutting bucks to be running around in that kind of thermally protected area. Hard to say, but the blind itself looks pretty darn sweet and I'm sure it wont be long before you two see some action! I made the stick part of this natural blind years ago. Although I've killed a few deer from it just like that, more often than not they would pick me off by sight once they'd get in range of bow tackle when I'd rise above the walls to draw, or just fidgeting around before they arrived. I made a few adjustments to this set up for fall turkey season with sis. It worked out so well that I left the blind inside the blind and it's one of my best spots so far this season for deer sightings. There's not much I can't get away with in this thing now even with two of the large windows unzipped for bow and camera shots. There's only one spot they can actually look "through" the windows to see movement, but by then they're already dead if they're what I'm looking for. If not, I just sink back into the far corner and they go about doing whatever they want.
