wildcat junkie
Too much! The deer are hunkered down but they should be all over the place once they decide to move. I expect them to go on the feed this evening. A friend took these PIX yesterday. 1st, the Penthouse. Same angle in October. There are thick cedars just beyond the trail and the deer pour in there to yard up when snow gets over a few inched deep and persists for more than a few days... 250 yd shooting lane at 12:00 position from the tripod. This was the trail that they used for the cradle when hauling out the 30" diameter white pine logs. It bisects the 15 acre area that was logged in the winter of 98-99. By far the most productive shooting lane but the shortest shot has been about 175 yds. Most kills are at 240 yds to 250 yds. These are looking to the 2:00 position. These 2 shooting lanes have been even more productive over the last few years. Each is about 100 yds long. Steve D
Just spent the last two days (Mon. & Tues.) snow blowing and cleaning out. Some parts of the yard you can see grass yet we had 2-3 feet drifted in the driveway and 5 feet drifted in front of the basement door both days from the wind. Took a walk out back this afternoon and there is 6-8" everywhere with drifts in spots 3-4 ft. deep. A few deer tracks but not many. Pretty tough walking. Haven't hunted since opening day & don't plan on it until some of this melts down.
dbHunterNY
plowed driveway. truly measured and not counting drifts we've gotten somewhere close to 13" maybe. didn't start until Saturday night. late sunday morning we had a measured 9" but it didn't stop until Monday morning. yet 1 hour down the road in Albany they got maybe an inch. something about upslope and mountains being around us farther north. some by me had cars buried with drifts. wouldn't know there was a car under there. dbHunterNY
saw lots of activity sunday it was just isolated in cover and other areas. not much out in open fields or drifting side hills.
NYBowhunter
Views from 2 of my stands, snow from 1 to 2 feet in 4f depending on drifts. About 1 foot in woods. Pics are sideways.
DirtTime
My immediate area in the capitol district in 4B didn't get much at all. A dusting, maybe an inch at most. It's been cold enough to keep it around though. This is what the area I was hunting this afternoon looked like. A little snow, but not much. Water Rat
I'd be grateful for a dusting. The little we had on Sunday is just a memory now.
