2012_taco
I've been looking into flashlights ever since I saw the difference it can make when tracking at night. Lawd has a streamlight L1 (I believe) and the blood was much easier to spot than the cheap led light I was using. What kind of flashlights do you guys/gals carry and why do you like it? turkeyfeathers
GSX and Surefire are 2 I always carry. They both use I believe are a CR 123 battery. Batteries don't last too long but both throw a bunch of light. Both can melt snow on my way in lol. Surefire has a red flip lens I'll typically use when entering the woods. The GSX has a blue and green filter on it. I've never used either for tracking so can't speak from that experience. Pretty sure both would be deemed illegal as regs say " penlight " or something like that to be used for hunting. It's not like I'm jacking deer under them though. I had the Surefire turn on in my pocket a few years back hiking up my hill My thigh started to burn That sucker got hot Re streamlight : I have a streamlight light / laser combo on my Springfield X d which lights up a room quite nicely.
Jdubs
I own a bunch of Surefires and swear by them. The E2D LED gets carried every day, hunting too. Bright as can be and tough as nails. It even survived an accidental run through the washing machine.
sbuff
I don't use them for tracking, but it's hard to beat a mini Mag light with led for durability and price. Plus double A seem easier to find and cheaper then the CR123 batteries Edited December 29, 2016 by sbuff
Salmon_Run
I like two different lights for field use, first I have a Browning small flashlight that uses triple A batteries for intermittent use, walking or small chores. It is plastic but seems pretty rugged. Secondly, I use a headlamp for walking after dark, hands free use and such chores that take longer and that also uses triple A batteries. I carry a set of extra batteries and practice changing the batteries in the dark....Crazy I know, but when they suddenly die and you need to change them in the dark I can.. Both are lightweight, rugged and fit easily in my fanny pack where they reside. I often carry that pack during off road stream trout fishing trips and day hikes as well. 2012_taco
I sent a text to my son who is a police officer in Santa Ana Ca. asking what he uses and if he had any recommendations, Yesterday I get a package and he sent me a Fenix PD 35! This is an awesome flashlight! https://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Flashlight-EdisonBright-Lithium-Batteries/dp/B00DR9GWX0 This should be the last flashlight I will ever need! Thanks for the input and feel free to post your lights!
The_Real_TCIII
I have a headlamp but also grab those cheap aluminum LED handhelds just about every time I go to tractor supply, they're great to have in the pack and I'm always losing themSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
zeus1gdsm
I have quite a few flashlights..... I'd recommend a Convoy l2 for throw or fields... A streamlight c4 is a great triple a flashlight clip allows you to clip it to the brim of your hat as a headlight. For general use I have a streamlight stylus pro. 2 double a's.Lots of advancements in led tech the last few years... China is throwing out killer lights.Hand lights - "on the road m6," even the ultra fires on amazon for 12$Sent from my D6708 using Tapatalk

Nomad
I'm a bit of a flashlight geek, I own or have owned Surefires, olight, 4sevens, streamlight, Fenix, lens light and on and on. Right now and for good reason the hottest light out there is , as mentioned above the Fenix PD35 . I own two of them . If you can buythe charger and two rechargeable batteries . I also buy CR 123 in bulk online , you can get them at about a buck each . i use the lowest setting when I need a light to and from stands, and whatever level is best suited to blood trailing etc. Many companies exaggerate the lumens , like most on TV and the cheaper ones all over the net. I've seen some that claimed over 1,000 test out at 150 ! ive also bought a number of these cheap lights, they don't hold up, buy the brands I listed and don't worry . Really just get the PD 35. I buy from , Fenix Store . Google them .
