Thread hijack.....I'm guessing you just found that with a google search; spent every summer vacation in Sutton Mass as a kid ,I hadn't thought about that place in years. Found out the Blue Jay restaurant burned down back in 06', damn, remember some good meals there.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming.....

Really lol, well I'll give it a shot but the one on the far right looks like a white oak. That is good cause deer pick them over the red oaks other two trees maybe someone else can take a stab

I was just posting the view lol not in response to your comment

Took 25 shots tonight. Not as tight of groups as normal probably since I haven't shot for a full week. First 15 were at 20yds with field points like I do at home, then took 3 with the same broadhead and at least it flew similar to field points so at least that's a relief.

Then I took 6 shots from 25yds using number "12" on my sight as a guess and they were pretty decent but all a little left, then it got dark so I took one broadhead shot from 25 yd and that was really good just a tad left also. So next time I shoot from 25yd I'll see if I am still left before adjusting sight.

Did hit my forearm with string a few times so that's no fun even though it didn't affect my shots. But then I tried tucking in other 3 fingers and only using thumb and index and that seemed to work, so thx to whoever suggested that to me.

Also one of my lumenoks worked perfect like, but the other 3 didn't work. Maybe I don't shoot hard enough? I have to do some research. The guy lit them up at store so I know that they should work. Never had an issue with them with xbow.

All in all, all 25 shots probably would have killed a deer but it's definitely tougher and to be consistent when I don't shoot for a week.

Up to 88 shots for my career now.

At some point I need to get good out to 40yd in order to put appropriate sight tape on but if I don't get there before the season I'll just leave at whatever number is good for 25yds and aim low/high accordingly.

Throw the lumenocks in the garbage and buy nocturnal's, their a far superior product.

They might be nocturnals. I actually don't know what brand. Can't remember and I had them put on at the shop. I like with them with xbow because I hunt from ground so easier to find arrow since it's not sticking in ground after going thru deer

A properly tuned bow will shoot a fixed broadhead the same as a field point. I won't shoot a bow that won't, because you're loosing KE with your arrows not flying true.

Mechanical broadheads are a bandaid for proper bow tuning.

So I'm at 101 career shots. When should I use wax? I was gonna do it after 200shots....

Wax anytime the string looks dry enough to need it. I usually put it on a little heavy to work it around and into the string with my fingers. Once there's a nice waxy cloudy look to the string I call it good. Just keep checking it every time you shoot, if it looks to be wearing off put a little more on. After hunting rainy or snowy days are good times to check the wax on your strings to

I checked Cameras in new Westchester (3S) property. They aren't my best Cameras but they I'm thinking of sitting with back against the camo wood so nothing sees me from behind. This spot is perched about 10ft higher than the surrounding area. Swamps to the right and acorns flat area to the left. No does, no fawns, 1 raccoon pic and this same 4pt on several days. In some pics I thought there was a big spike too but it's actually just this same 4pt. Straight on pics he looks like a spike. I left both cams in the same spots. But I moved the one up higher a little (the one that cut antlers off). I guess I'll check cams in a few weeks and hopefully see other bucks that are bigger. As of now, I plan to open season up at 3N land parents bought last year which I have pics of 4 shooters (for me) this year so far.

Yea. It's not like heavy swamp. It's just really deep mud right now, it's the black ground on the right side of the pic. If I step in it it I sink down up to my ankles.

That ground is great for finding tracks. They must be spending majority of their time near the houses.

  • 2 weeks later...

Very productive rainy day today. Shot 31 times in a light on and off mist. Up to 144 for career.

First 6 at 20yds sitting and standing and continues to feel very confident so moved to 25yds and took 25 there and even made a slight adjustment on sight to right since I am always center or left on all shots. Now I feel really confident at 25yds.

These were my last 2 shots at 25yds sitting in chair. A nock popped off but I put it back in.

Tomorrow, I'll check cams at land and shoot from chair inside actually blind this way I'll feel confident on 10/1.

Went to the land today. Checked cams, including 1 cam that I haven't checked since July. Also brought in my swivel chair and shot out of it out of the ground blind. Shot 23yds straight out, 25yds to the Right and 27yds to the left. All 3 shots were really good so I feel good for 10/1.

First pic is a young buck I saw as I parked and took a pic with iPhone. He was with a doe.

The big 5pt appears to be out of velvet already. The last pic is the ugliest warted toad I ever seen. He was in middle of Woods.
