Went to the land today. Checked cams, including 1 cam that I haven't checked since July. Also brought in my swivel chair and shot out of it out of the ground blind. Shot 23yds straight out, 25yds to the Right and 27yds to the left. All 3 shots were really good so I feel good for 10/1.

First pic is a young buck I saw as I parked and took a pic with iPhone. He was with a doe.

The big 5pt appears to be out of velvet already. The last pic is the ugliest warted toad I ever seen. He was in middle of Woods.

Nice looking deer on the property Biz. As for being ready for 10/1, have you put any broadheads down range yet?

Almost forgot to post this,
Check out these trespassers. Never seen them before, nor I have I ever seen a side by side in my neck of the woods.

Are these electrical workers? Reason I ask if because there are powerlines on my parents property so they have an easement or something. If I remember correctly it's 50 ft or yds on each side of the poles.

I would say you are correct in assuming that they may work for the power company....or they are very safe when setting up hunting spots on private property, lol

Yea the hard hats and giant 4 seater ATV threw me off.

I think you have grounds for a lawsuit with those 2 pics, clearly it's false advertising when a cam is called a "stealth cam" when that buck clearly knows something is happening.

Buck doesn't seem to concerned. Came back for further investigation. Maybe he likes being photogenic ?

Checked my crappy cams his morning in 3S Westchester. Bunch of does this time, Fawn with spots, 2 red fox in 1 pic. Same 4pt, a smaller buck and I think the buck on 9/9 at 451 is a bigger buck? Anyway the cam with treestand in background is 8yds from my spot, directly below me about 10ft. I plan to sit on a rise in middle of oak trees with swamps/valleys on both sides. I can shoot sitting down or stand and move a few steps either way. Acorns starting to fall and found some old shotgun shells (illegal to shoot guns in 3S). Almost all activity is afternoon. Good news is that I can sneak into this spot pretty easily from a Backroad with short 100yd flat walk instead of parking in owners driveway and walking in a few hundred yards blowing up everything.

You think treestand is still being used ? Looks like an old wooden one. Sledge the bottom few steps off of it .  Would totally suck to have someone in it on opening day for you.

Nice pics

No way. It looks way older up close the platform has been rotted out for years. Btw, I won't be here opening day. Maybe a few days after if no success at parents land

9/17: first time shooting since 9/4.

Took 13 shots this morning. Some with my gloves on. Feel pretty good. I will probably use the makeup for face instead of mask though when hunting. I am going to leave my HHA sights set for #15 on the wheel, which means dead on at 25yds for me. The first pic attached is me aiming dead on but at only 20yds. I wanted to see how high I would be and I'm about 3" high, so if I see a deer at 18yds like last year I'll just hold a tiny bit low like I did with the xbow.

I also got a different brand lighted nock (nockturnals) and they seemed to work better (see 2nd pic).

I have power lines going trough my property. That is what it looks like. Every so often they will come in and spay all the trees and vegetation with poison. Make sure you are aware of this. A ton of berries grow on the easement and my kids and I were going to pick them until we found out the power company came through and spayed a day earlier . usually they leave a note but that year I didn't get any. They also check with helicopters. Had one in my field hovering 50 feet off the ground, didn't know what the hell was going on until my neighbor told me about them.

Yea the previous owner told us about the spraying. I don't bother eating any of the wild blackberries and raspberries for this reason.

Burt, that was me and doewhacker in the helicopter.  I was flying it while he was lowering himself down by rope onto your land.  We were practicing for when we trespass this Fall.
