stubborn1VT
Got a call from a fraud center yesterday. Someone tried to use my debit card to buy $400+ worth of stuff at a Dollar General in North Carolina. They flagged the purchase, so it didn't go through. They called and let me know, and told me to get a new card. All good. Trouble is, my bank won't be open until Tuesday. Meanwhile, Netflix tried to process my automatic payment and it was declined because my debit card is suspended. Today's high is supposed to be 4 degrees. The projected wind chill is -17. So, no ice fishing for me and no Netflix. These are First World problems, so it's no big deal. I would like to get my hands on the person who hacked my card and put the Chippewas to them... by order of the Peaky Blinders!
Moho81
Glad they caught it but yeah it still sucks. We got hit for over $500 just last month and they didn’t catch it. We called and disputed the charges. Within 2 weeks it was all resolved and we had new cards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stubborn1VT
Glad they resolved your charges. It seems like banks are good about it. I guess they need to be, since it's so darn common.
Robhuntandfish
Same thing happened to my GF on Xmas weekend. Glad she had her shopping done. But couldn't get to a bank for a new card for a couple days. It happens so much. But at least they caught it. Good luck
Paula
It happened to me two months ago. I only took my card two times for gas, and it was the only two times that card left the house!
stubborn1VT
I bet they try to use the card numbers on holiday weekends, so they have more time. I really am glad that my bank was on top of it. It's not a huge deal to get a new card, but I will have to wait. At least this site is free!
stubborn1VT
1 minute ago, Paula said: It happened to me two months ago. I only took my card two times for gas, and it was the only two times that card left the house! They say that gas stations are high risk. I also heard that they have computer programs that generate the numbers independently, so they aren't hacking you, but pulling the number out of thin air. Not sure if that's true. Jeremy K
Most likely ,the person who tried to use is not the person who stole it. One person steals and sells the info to someone who will use and then try and sell all that crap they just bought with it. I watched a documentary on it and the dark web. Paula
Bills were paid with mine. I wonder if they took back the money from those bills?

stubborn1VT
Yeah. I wear a low heel logger in the winter with a composite toe. They're heavy enough to do some damage!
Elmo
Got hit for a couple of grand a few years back. Someone bought several plane tickets from an airport in Denver with my card even though I had the card with me in NYC. They said it was an in-person purchase. They had the names of all the passengers. My bank refunded me the money and gave me a new card and told they'll take care of the perp. Five Seasons
Last Christmas someone bought 500 worth of stuff from bestbuy and did an in store pickup (within 15 min). They said it wasn’t their fault and to call the police. I told them that their website was hacked and their associate didn’t id the pickup and they said sorry. I’ve spent thousands there which they’d know just by looking at my rewards account and I told the idiot from India I wouldn’t be shopping there again. They didn’t care and I’ve remained true to that.Luckily Citi refunded me the purchase but the headache with my auto payments setup with the card makes me hate bestbuy even more. Lesson learned don’t store cards with retailers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Five Seasons
Also wonder if maybe you’re a victim of the gas station readers they’ve found in the areaSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
