WNY suggestions on who could cut a barrel down for me.

Like the title says. Looking for someone in Western NY that I can trust to cut an Encore barrel down for me. I want it cut and recrowned. Anyone know anyone that does good work and can be trusted?

There is a gunsmith in victor.  Ordered a compliant AR through them.   Let me find name. Looked like lots of custom stuff when I was there.

If you can't find anyone local, its no big deal to mail a barrel....

google  "JD Jones.....SSK Industries".....does lots of contender/encore work and charges around $85 for cut and crown IIRC.

Any competent machinist with a lathe can cut and crown a barrel. Just give him a drawing of the crown you want ans specify that there are to be no burrs at the bore. I like a recessed flat crown myself. I usually polish with a .350 round lead ball and fine valve grinding compound to remove any minute burrs. I even do that with new store bought rifles on the rare occasions that I buy one.

We used to do a bunch of gun machining here where I work. Barrels, chokes silencers you name it lol. But the company finally caught on and put an end to it. So now whatever can be snuck in and out on occasion lol

I just got back a 6.5 creedmoor and a Remington 308 from Thunderbeast in Wyoming, it took 7 days, $120 per barrel + shipping.

They were also threaded.
