steve863
This is good. Finally a NYC gun law makes it to the Supreme Court. Unfortunately there are plenty of other uglier gun restrictions in NYC that won't get addressed here. I would have preferred that some of the others were addressed before this one. The complex process of just applying and being issued a pistol permit in NYC should have been addressed first in my opinion. Let's not even get into the fees that one has to cough up. If anything should be deemed unconstitutional it should be this. Now that the SC will make a ruling in this case, it may be years before they take up any other NYC or NYS gun law issues.
G-Man
Well now Pelosi want gun confiscation in exchange for wall.. so this becomes even more important .

Roberts is absolutely the one most likely to tank the vote.
Rattler
The left has something on Roberts, and that's why he voted to keep Obamacare.
Rattler
In November, our Brian Mark Weber observed, "The [Heller] ruling came far too late to push back against decades of leftist propaganda and activism designed to convince millions of Americans that the Second Amendment was far different from the other nine rights — that it was neither individual nor narrowly limited but collective and extremely limited. Since then, lower courts have had a field day misinterpreting the Constitution and upholding laws making it harder for citizens to acquire guns." He added, "All this would be of less concern if the Supreme Court and its new, more conservative majority would simply take up more Second Amendment cases and decisively reestablish the self-evident right of American citizens to defend themselves. Indeed, the High Court may be the last best hope for securing this right against a leftist obsession to take it away." The Supreme Court this week made a positive step toward doing just that. And thanks to President Donald Trump's sublime Supreme Court picks, the prognosis is looking good. (As soon as RGB is off and a new originalist judge is on that is )

Do you honestly think with the democrats in the majority Trump will get the opportunity to appoint another judge if the opportunity arises? More than likely they will stalemate him just like Obama was.
Rattler
The Senate confirms SCOTUS nominees, not the House. Dems do not have a majority in the Senate and the approval will be done just like it was done for Kavanaugh in spite of the resistance.

You, me and every single pro-2A group waiting to unleash a tidal wave of appeals to SCOTUS. People can say what they want about Trump, but his legacy is predominantly about how he has reshaped the balance of the courts.

I know I didn't have the bar set very high but when I filled in the dot with his name it was ONLY with that thought. I figured if we could get a solid majority by more than a single vote we would be in good shape to hold back this socialist tide.
Culvercreek hunt club
I know he is only 70 but I feel like I would like to see Thomas step down at this point and take this opportunity to put in another staunch conservative in their 50's. Alito isn't far behind at 68. Breyer is 80. how sweet would that be. I think someone on the right had better be doing bed checks on RBG. They will keep her around like Weekend at Bernie's 1
