Zeek, I have been there before. I also took my son. He got a boar and a ram.

It is a great place to start a kid off, and Mark is good people. You will love the land and the lodge. Bring fishing stuff for the pond, too.

Enjoy and be sure to post a story with pics!

A ram? :preved:

Yes. It was fun at the time, for a kid who was too young to hunt in NY. He knew it wasn't a "real" hunt.

It was fun and we ate the meat. No different than going to a grocery store.

that's a good point and a good way of looking at fenced hunts. They're not really any different than getting groceries, and shouldn't be treated the same as hunting.

I'm never going to say preserve  hunts  is same as free range  or wild animals.  I have been on a few.  Worst one I  was on was 70 acres high fenced . Domestic animals .  Pets even . 3 hrs of wandering through the petting zoo i went home . I refused to shoot an animal. Owner actually got belligerent  about my snobbish attitude.  Told me he would sue if i gave him a bad review. I told him good luck with that .

Best  preserve  was over 500 acres and animals were tuff  to hunt . Animals ran at a snapped branch  had to be approached  down wind . Closest  thing to real hunting  . Still was a target rich opportunity.

It is what you make of it . I think it's a great place to start new hunters. It's a good time as far as group hunts  . Bringing home the groceries  could never be more fun.

Well it was a good hunt for my son and father. The fallow doe was trickier than we were expecting. It snuck in behind us while we were watching a bison out in a field. It took off before my son could turn around. After that it turned into a deer drive. Our guide went out to try and push it back our way. Eventually it did but came through to fast for him, by the time it slowed down it was in some very tall golden rod. We eventually lost sight of it. The guide went around to try and cut it off but never found it. Turns out it bedded down about 100 yards out from us. As the guide was comin back it got up and was walking pretty fast through the golden rod, eventually it got to a area with lower grass and i gave it the "meh". She stopped and he made a great double lung shot. We watched it run off 50 yards and drop. Then the happy tears came and started shaking. Lots of hugs and high fives all around.

My dads pig didnt come to easy either. Guide tried pushin up our way but they refused. We got down and started movin through the brush tryin to get them out and movin. Still no pigs, we came back up the property and past a field and thier were a group of pigs feeding. They saw us and headed into the woods. Got to stalk to about 60 yards and he made a head shot and dropped his pig. Over all it was a great time, good food. Now for some fishin and dinner.
