damore81
lol, I thought some of my guys were bad going out for only 3 hours! hahahah Yea I hear what you mean. Yeah most of the guys I hunt with are older than me so they have slowed down a bit. Plus we have a opening weekend tradition that we slaughter a pig and then have a pig roast so they are all more excited about that lol. I dont mind because that leaves the entire property to me! damore81
Say What??? Send me your address of camp..lol It seems more people are excited over killing a pig and having a pig roast than actually hunting lmao!
steve863
Wow, that pig slaughter does sound interesting. Do you let the guys who didn't get a shot at a deer shoot the pig with their deer rifles? A kill is a kill after all! LOL
damore81
lol. No actually we dont shoot the pig. It is slaughtered by knife and the oldest member of our crew gets the honor! Bit of an old school Italian tradition.

Pygmy
Opening day of gun season....Nothing quite like it... I have been in the woods at daylight on opening day every year since 1965. Even the years when I was in the Navy, I managed to get leave for the first week of deer season. Good luck to everyone, and hunt safely. steve863
Damn, you Italians are one step above barbarians! Just kidding, I better be actually! LOL So you guys have one guy stay behind and not hunt to look after the pig while it's roasting? Wouldn't it be funny if the pig was left alone for a while and a bear helped himself to it? A bunch of mad and hungry Italians you guys would be!! LOL Edited November 17, 2011 by steve863
damore81
What time should we be there for the feast? Some of us are heading up tonight and Pig will be slaughtered tomorrow morning around 6am. Dinner should be ready about 6pm when the whole crew arrives!

We have to worry about which one of our guys is gonna sneak a taste!

Sounds nasty but when made properly you would think it is an exotic high end chocolate pudding!

I have to leave some room for the chipmunk stew at Growalot's afterwards. LOL

Pygmy
The pork sounds great, but I'd have to pass on the blood pudding. It's just one of those things that never sounded appealing to me, like eating brains... How old is the gent who gets to stick the pig this year ? steve863
Pygmy, how about some chipmunk stew at Growalot's? I'm sure she has a good story or five for us! LOL You don't even need to call her if you decide to come over. She has a radar on top of her house that detects all movement up to 10 miles away so she'll know your coming. Its an authentic Italian bakery that makes it in what used to be a Italian neighborhood but it is now quickly becoming predominantly Chinese!
