Whats on your Christmas / Holiday Wish List this year? My wife never knows what to get me... No hunting stuff this year, I'm good for now. So I ended up asking for a Tablet (not an iPad like the rest of the world has). Figured it'd be good to take on trips and for reading the forum before passing out in bed. I could use a new scope though... Hrmmmm my birthday is only 3 days after Xmas.

#1. I don't know why but by default, my browser keeps setting me up with some super tiny font the last few times I posted. I have to manually adjust the font to something that is easier to read and I don't know what the normal font is suppose to be.

#2 Congrats to all those with new places. I bought mines years ago but it's time for some changes so yeah, the misses and I agree to buy new sheets, curtains, etc as our gifts.

#3 My idea of great gifts is something you want but feel it's over priced. If it's something you want and it's a great deal, you would have gotten it yourself. But if it's lets say a scarf that you really like but at $50 you're like "I'm not paying $50 for a freakin' scarf!" But if someone bought you that scarf all of a sudden it's a different story.

#4 Growing up in a household that never really celebrated X-mas, I am a notoriously hard person to get gifts for because if there's anything I want and is obtainable, I go out and get it myself right away and I'm very particular about what I want. Like, it can't be any scope...it has to be that scope. So that last couple of years I would purposely refrain myself from buying a few items I want till after X-mas and then create a list. This year it's mainly camera gear and hunting/shooting accessories. Kept cost low because I know times are tough.

The wife and I usually buy stuff for ourselves and put them under the tree so we can have something to unwrap in front of the kids. After 20 years of marriage it gets harder and harder to get something for her or me that we don't already have. But every year I surprise her with something nice. But we are planning a nice long cruise for the spring so we are not going crazy this Christmas.

John, I'm also looking for a good tablet. I bought the Pandigital Novel at Kohl's on sale. Played around with it for about 1 week or so. Not happy with it. Very slow response. Runs on the older Android operating system. Its Wifi only. I bought it to use in my stand to look at pictures from my trail cam and to read. Also because it had a regular SD card slot. However, it took about 30 minutes to load all the pictures. It is good for a reader but I already have the Nook simple touch reader. I'm returning the Pandigital tomorrow.

I've done lots of research on tablets. If you want 3G where you can access the internet anywhere you are, then your best bet is the IPad 3G. The others like Samsung Galaxy and the Motorola Zoom are also 3G but do not have the speed of the IPad. This is coming from friends who have had both and switched to the IPad. The downside is the hefty price tag - $629 to start for 16G with wifi & 3G. But remember you have to pay a monthly fee to your carrier as well. So add that in to the overall price. I also read rumors online that the IPad 2S and the IPad 3 is coming out this coming year so I'm sure the prices on the IPad 2 are going to drop. I think I'm going to wait until then.

If you want a good reader and you are going to be in a wifi area and you don't need internet available anytime, but you can still access the internet in wifi hotspots, then I would look at the new Nook Tablet at Barnes & Nobel for $249. It got really good reviews. Just my HO.

Trailcams, treestands and gift certificates for the tattoo parlor are the only things on my list this year. Trailcams and stands are a no brainer, I have a ton of land to cover now lol, and I have a couple of tattoos that need finished and another couple that need to be started. Everyone always complains that Im hard to shop for but I just dont see it.

Deerthug - I'm not looking for 3G (I dont need another bill) :) - But the tablet I want is this - > http://www.asus.com/...er_Prime_TF201/ - It comes out in a week or so. Blows the doors off everything out there.

Yeah I hear ya! I don't want another bill either. I like the Asus. Sounds like its gonna blow the doors off the IPad. Do you know what the asking price will be? I saw it on Amazon but no price yet. BTW check out this guys warning about the docks. http://www.amazon.com/TF201-B1-GR-Transformer-10-1-Inch-Tablet-Amethyst/product-reviews/B0067PLM5E/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1

Todays Woot deal is a 7 inch galaxy tab with wifi and 3g for 199....

http://sellout.woot....m=email#tracked

Not a fan of that tab, but if you need 3g that's the cheapest they come.

Got that email too today but its refurbished. I don't like refurbished products unless they are sold directly from the manufacturer. The one and only refurbished item I ever bought was a Canon EOS Rebel XS digital camera with a telephoto lens directly from Canon last year at this time (have a friend who works at Canon and got it at an even deeper discount). Its been a year and I love it! Other than that I get weery of refurbished products.
