hillbillies! Shooting from the highway, baiting deer, no licenses, etc. I think there are more people who got tickets in that area than total hunters overall in my area lol. I drive down the road with a deer on the back and everybody stares and wonders what is going on.

Take notice of this one, found on the second page...

"On November 22, Cody R. Cullinan, age 27, of Rochester, was charged with 2 separate counts of failing to properly tag deer. ECOs John Lutz and Brian Wade were alerted after Cullinan posted pictures online of 3 dead antlered deer. Cullinan was issued appearance tickets answerable to the Town of Avon and faces fines of up to $500 and up to 30 days in jail."

You think DEC doesnt watch these types of sites?

Guy takes 3 bucks and only has to pay $500 fine? How about a 5 or 10 year ban of his license? or better yet, banned for life!

Thats a long list. A lot of possession of another hunter's game tags and use of them. Too many guys think its ok to tag a deer with someone else's tag that isn't a DMP.

This caught my attention...

On October 22, Matthew H. Goldman, 31 of Ruther Glen, VA, was charged with hunting while impaired by drugs, a violation and violating the penal law on state land, a violation. Goldman was taken into custody and appeared before the Town of Savannah Court where Goldman paid a total of $400 in fines and a $150 surcharge.

I hope Region 7 releases a list like some of the others did. I was really happy when they nailed a guy whole poached deer near where I live a few years ago.

And not having a properly tagged deer had one of the lowest fines or penalties.......?

Lot of inequity in the fines.

IMHO - Should be a lot stiffer penalties for most offences.

Depending on severity of infraction, at least a 10 year loss of license privileges along with the fine &/or jail time!

How many of you load your gun and put it in the ATV gun boot and drive to stand?? Bet most don't even think twice....Ahhh glad I prefer the walk..though at camp I have to walk down two different roads...couple of times on stand...CLICK...Damn!

I'm in 8P and the consensus is that the deer population is way down. More than enough coyotes and bear around probably putting a dent the population? Time to get even!

Lord almighty that wasn't meant as some nasty comment of ATV riders ...nor would I ASSUME a loaded gun put in a gun BOOT would have a round in the chamber...Just that how many would think you'd be ticketed on the way to or from your stand..Geez

Improperly tagging a deer should get a large fine? I think they would need to define levels of improperly tagging first. The wrong DEC officer could really nit pick something like that if they wanted to, or we're in the wrong mood, and then you end up with a big fine for not notching the tag right or some other petty thing. I've probably been guilty of things you could call improperly tagging a few times because I forgot to do this or that in the excitement of the moment.

I think they should get more harsh on the bigger crimes, like jacking deer, not having a tag for the deer you killed, using other people's tags or using a certain weapon outside of the designated season. Revocation of hunting privileges, confiscation of any and all equipment used in the commission, some hefty fines and maybe jail time should be enough of a deterrent to keep most people honest.
