Bag, Block or 3D target?

Ill probably do that with this one before I chuck it. Im gonna let the kiddo use it for shooting her bow though. With the extremely low draw weight its set at, it doesnt penetrate the bag target very well, but the 3D target is no problem.

Absolutely, one of the big reasons I shoot so much in the summer.

The shooting is relaxing for sure. And the tuning is fairly relaxing too as long as everything is proceding according the plan. But I have run into some problems that seemed to defy normal bow tuning science. That was NOT relaxing at all ..... lol. I have a shortage on patience sometimes.

Yes, it can be irritating as hell when you do everthing exactly the way The "experts" describe, or exactly the way it has worked all your life and things just refuse to cooperate. Each bow seems to be a unique case with its own tricks and peculiarities.

Bill - What's the broadhead target made of? How long does it last? I'm always looking for a good broadhead target that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and that lasts for a while. Right now, I am using those cheapy styrofoam targets that Walmart sells (actually their price has been creeping up a bit in the last year or two). I usually get a couple of years out of them, but there is quite a mess left behind and I have to keep my broadhead practice to a minimum.

I only shoot bh (practice ones) out of my hunting bow at my 3d. I have the The Rhinhart Woodland - which is their base 3d...the replaceable section is great. I should be able to get two years out of it - I store it in the garage in winter (leaving it outside is bad for the foam durability).The remainder of the deer is equal to the typical consumer 3d target but the replacement part is quality Rhinehart.

Two years out of the core is great I think when you consider how much I shoot at it and all with broadheads. I estimate I put 4-5k shots into it in a 3 month period from August onward. Doesn't sound like much but thats great with the cutting surface of the broadheads.

My problem with 3-D targets is that you essentially have just one aiming spot. That can be murder on arrows. and broadheads makes arrow damage (destruction) almost a certainty.

When your groups tighten up , you do the following , shoot at spots or in the case of a 3D , you shoot one arrow at a time and do a lot of walking . That keeps you from destroying arrows .

i picked up a big green block target at gander mountain for 30 bucks. so far lasts pretty good with field tips

Actually, for field tips there are a jillion different targets that will do a decent job of stopping a lot of arrows. I am really curious about those targets that will stop broadheads without being shot up almost immediately. I haven't really found one that will do that yet. Most are way too expensive for the number of broadhead shots that you can take without having them begin to "leak".

I use my Rhinehart with broad heads occasionally. only a few arrows at a time.. You're right though.. the targets are a bit too costly to use on a regular basis for broadheads... The Morrell Block has a broadhead target that I have heard is really good and holds up well

I want to try out my 100 gr 3 blade Muzzys again this coming spring . I am going to use my home-made styrofoam target and put some carpeting on the backside . Whatever block I shoot out , I will just replace . The blocks were free but not very tough . They were free from tractor Supply .

I shoot in the backyard alot. Well, not this time of year but yeah it's a great way to unwind.

I sure do and yes I am still shooting last week for several hours out at the Sand dune archers in Myrtle beach SC....65 degrees and sunny this week tues, thur and both sat and sun as they have a full 36 targets shoot this coming weekend and or also they have a 900 round for those that like to shoot arrows at 40, 50, 60 yards a total of 90 arrows and if all in the gold you score 900 points... I will be shooting my compound at the 3D's.

I have a Delta 3-D buck that has the vitals colored. Also a Block that will need replacing soon. My bag target got ruined and need a new one. I like to set up as many as I can at different distances and angles. The Delta is can be difficult to pull arrows out sometimes but I have never had too much issue.
