The America that our forefathers created was the greatest country in the world... what our government is turning it into is not. America is no better off now than when King George was in power... George Washington would be rolling over in his grave from what has happen to this country. The progressive movement will be Americas downfall by moving us back towards what we fought so hard to escape.3 points

I personally don't have a problem jumping through a hoop to get a permit. (mine took 4.5 months but I think the FBI background check I had gone through just prior to applying might have helped). I do hae a problem jumping through multi[ple hoops and having someone constantly changing the size and location of the hoops. If I am valid on my pistol permit I shouldn't have to have a federal check...Heck the best bet would be a federal permit with complete reciprocity across state lines.2 points

I agree. While some laws are a bit ridiculous, I find comfort knowing that there are certain laws in place. I know someone personally who served briefly in Iraq and suffers from PTSD. He's easily agitated and gets angry by just being slightly provoked. He has thought about getting a firearm and I'm telling you, 2nd amendment aside, this is not someone who should have one. Also, I think the government should turn their focus away from making it harder for people to obtain firearms legally and focus more on making it harder for people to obtain firearms illegally.1 point

Absolutely, There is a story of a Cuban businessman who risked his life and came to this country. As he told of his struggles under a socialistic system and the struggles of his family, to a group of Americans, he overheard them say to each other, "man, we don't understand how lucky we are." Hearing that, the cuban replied, how lucky you are? I was lucky that i had America to escape to. You have nowhere to go if America fails. This is truelly the last stand on earth. If Freedom fails and America fails, people will most cetainly ask for centeries to come. "What was it that Americans valued more then Freedom? Historians will undoubtably shake their heads and wonder Why? What the hell was wrong with them???1 point

OK...Ya know what? we're ALL talking out of our arses when giving an opinion on woulda ...coulda...shoulda...myself included...the Facts are...we weren't there....not sure if any of us have EVER been in that type of situation ....we don't know ALL the facts...whether anyone in the theater actually did have a gun and fear kept them unable to use it...what was going through anyone's minds. Getting peeved at each others OPINIONS instead of just processing them for what they are...another persons thoughts over a situation that everyone is having a hard time processing...for it was a completely senseless horrific act...It doesn't answer any thing nor help anyone....peoples lives were lost...and destroyed and forever altered....The news will drag this out until they have wrung the absolute last breath out of it with no regard to the ppl having to relive it over and over1 point

Hello Bill... welcome to the site! Diamond bows are excellent... but here's some food for thought. Big Box Stores are going to push bows they have on hand and in stock - period! A pro shop will have you shoot and try out different makes/models/etc... and a really GOOD pro shop owner will tell you to go try out some more. Try out as many as possible before you purchase one.1 point

I agree with Lawdwaz.. Buy a Leupold..End of worries... No one EVER takes my advice on scopes because they all think they need a high power variable, HOWEVER, I will say once again, there are no BIG GAME applications within the range of most non magnum calibers ( like the 30-06).. We are talking 400 yards here...That cannot be efficiently handled with a QUALITY 4X or 6X fixed power scope ...<< Did I mention LEUPOLD..??>>....1 point

Guess you may be avoiding the Lyceum in Red Hook, eh? The sum total of paperwork to read here is a folded pamplet that has more to do with buying and selling from a dealer or private, and how to get one on or off your license. So there ya' go; even in this state there are variables.1 point

From what I have read, that 100 round magazine (a clip goes in a girls hair) jammed and probably saved alot of people. Those drums are notoriously finacky if not taken care of properly. Honestly, the guy could have probably done more damage with a few 30 round mags. They dont jam as often and it doesnt take much time to reload. He could have killed as many people as he did, just as quickly with 10 round mags even. Even if you banned them, they can still be had illegally. Remember, criminals dont follow the law anyway.1 point

Scot, you know as well as any of us that there is plenty of "process" in place. There are volumes of laws and procedures already on the books (some of them duplicated many times over), that along with a small handful of meaningful laws place plenty of additional road-blocks and worthless harrassments on law-abiding potential gun owners. In fact the subject of gun ownership may very well be the most wildly regulated activity in our whole system of laws. And yet even with these massive volumes of gun laws, none have stopped these crazy acts from taking place. We love to compose and dump these laws on our citizenry, and yet there is no evidence that any of them or all of them are able to stop crazies from doing what they are going to do. Look, terrorists have made an art-form of snubbing their noses at our gun laws. I think that a certain amount of basic gun laws may actually deter some crimes, but I think we long ago reached the end of the usefulness of that course of action. Today the new laws appear to be more aimed at harrassing guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens than any real constructive attempt to control crime. And you know what? ..... I believe that is exactly the intent. Today, when nobody can think of a useful solution, their frustration makes them start in with the knee-jerk, "there ought to be a law" kind of chanting. So, as I asked once already in a previous reply, specifically what new laws do you support that you believe would have prevented this crime? What new law would have prevented this guy from walking into that theater and opening fire?1 point
