If you believe that a person who owns a business of that size will just close the doors and walk away, than you are the bigger fool.None of his employee owe him anything,he is the one who owes them everything for making him very RICH. He made money on the backs of every employee and if he didn;t, he wasn't a very good businessman.2 points

I know people seem to be "reporting" this info, but please keep in mind that a buck is ready to breed year-round. They get agitated at this time of year and will do some "seeking/chasing" behavior, but the does are not ready/willing. Sure a doe or two may have come in early as she is an early estrous doe...but just be skeptic about the rut coming "early" as people like to say most years. The real rut data doesn't change much...just what we see of it. One doe in estrous in the area could make bucks go bonkers no doubt, tailing and checking any doe that cross his path or nose.1 point

I'm pretty sure the lack of access for most hunters and hence lack of game is causing most of these strifes against one another. Older more veteran hunters are reluctant to take aspiring hunters out to show them the ropes, bowhunters complaining about guys ruining their hunts, gunmen complaining about bowmen educating deer, etc etc is a direct result of lost access and opportunities to hunt. One thing I noticed as a new hunter, we sure like to fight amongst ourselves instead of those that take land from us.1 point

LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in tears over this one. We then need to do something about those damned wet paint signs. Why would they encourage painters to put wet paint where I like to put my hand down?1 point

She is definitely on to something! I'm having the signs made up so I can place them near my stands. Lol!!1 point

The extra two weeks for bow have been a blessing. Gives me an extra weekend to hunt, saw a lot of deer. Learning a lot about early season hunting. Next year we will have some youth hunters also. I like it.1 point

You are way to full of yourself to even understand what they hell you wrote yourself let alone understand anyone else.1 point

Last year I was in a bad way moneywise.....I usually shoot Rage but couldn't afford them....I settled on the exact broadheads from walmart....and on hunt number 3 last year I had a nice mature doe come in to 20 yards ...I shot her in a quartering away and it went right thru her....she walk 15 yards and fell over in sight...so don't listen to all the negativity.....get out there and put some meat in the freezer.....(if your license wasn't 90 dollars ...you could afford better broadheads)1 point

Yup. It has been discussed in most of the write-ups about this letter. http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/valuedemployees.asp1 point

He must be busy, because he couldn't even write his own letter. This is a fake chain letter sent out in 2008 to scare people away from voting for Obama. He just added a few examples to claim it as his own. I think he deserves everything he has built, including his 90,000 square foot house. But when Bush left office this guys business had tanked due to the real estate crash. It even dropped him from being a billionaire to (gasp) a hundred millionaire. This is just a rich guy being a douche bag to get attention. He will still make his millions regardless of who is president and he knows it.1 point

Within my first 5 years of bowhunting, I cant tell you how many deer, including 2 bucks that were 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 year olds that I passed because I was not comfortable with the shot due to distance and other factors. I have also made a couple of bad shots and lost a very nice buck last year because of it. Theres a difference between botching a shot that is within your limits and taking a shot that you know is outside your limits just because its an "opportunity". The latter is unethical.1 point

I did a lot of hunting out of hang-ons and climbers back when I was younger. Fortunately I managed to avoid a gravity attack, although I had a couple of close calls. Most of my friends who hunt out of treestands have had at least one fall. I am not nearly as strong, limber, and bulletproof as I once was, and my days of hunting from hang-ons and climbers are over. My favorite treestand was on my Dad's property. I built it with scrap lumber in a maple on a pinch point in a neck between two woodlots. I called it the world's greatest treestand. I killed perhaps 30 deer from that stand, and a couple of my buddies killed a bunch too. After my Dad died in '94, my Mom sold the property. Nowadays I have a couple of ladder stands I hunt from. I also have many spots where I sit or stand on the ground or on a log or a stump. Often I just lean against a tree. I have two pop up blinds that I use on occasion, but I use them much more for turkey hunting than deer hunting.1 point

You get the crap colored star for the Post Of The Day. Congrats? Edited out of respect for the site & mods.1 point

I just think there are some on the site lately that are just trying to stir the pot and bait people into a 15 page argument. Now that the AR, crossbow and youth season threads have run their course, they are grabbing at straws trying to start some controversy.1 point

Just remember, unless you are trying to hide from people, it doesnt matter how it looks to a person. Deer do not see the same way we do.1 point

happens to the best don't give up I agree with the rest he is a dead deer may go to water too stream , river, swamp pond if there is anything like that near by don't pass up on looking there1 point

He'll be dead by early morning, if hes not already dead. If your finding his guts on the ground he might be close to death right now. Rule #1 gut shot deer get an immediate back out from the stand and return on after 8-10 hrs at the very least. Arrows kill by bleeding and there are very little veins in the guts. You have to wait for the poison in the guts to do there work for the deer to die. It takes a while. I have found 7 gut shot deer for various people and none of them were easy. The one and only gut shot deer that I have had, I didnt get another arrow into him until the following night, but he was close to dead by then.1 point

I get the feeling some of you really think that business people exist just to put people to work... business is about making money... anything that deters a business owner from staying in that business is not going to be good for employment.. smart people should think very carefully about pissing off the business owners in this country... unions and our government have already driven most of the private sector businesses out of the country... Seigel is giving you all an insight on what will happen if things continue on the path that Obama is taking us.. not just his business though.. you can bet that there are many business owners that employ a lot of people that feel the same way... when those ex-employees are sitting home without a job.. it will be too late to say i told you so1 point

A hunt can be "ruined" by any number of factors....and, SO WHAT? When is a successful hunt crucial to life?? A "ruined" hunt today, might be a successful hunt tomorrow. So, buck up ;hunters...particularly you whining bowhunters...live with what life throws your way; make the best of each day. Small game hunters...bowhunters...hikers...mountain bikers...are all equals. Treat each other as such.1 point

The new bow has officially been broken in!!! This doe came out with two buttonbucks at very last light and I sent a Rocket Steelhead through her lungs @ 20yds. I had 5 bucks feeding out in the adjacent cornfield that was just chopped a few days ago. One was a 3.5 year old 8-pt that is definately on the hit-list. Think I'm gonna take the morning off from hunting to hang a stand where all of the bucks came out tonight... I shot her standing right about here...1 point

Posted this in the local Long Island forum but wanted to post on the official harvest thread as well....Was out on public land today. At 7am I saw the biggest buck I have ever seen in my young hunting career. This thing was massive but it was on the run and had no chance at it. At 10:30am a nice doe came by and now I have plenty of meat for my freezer which I am so so so happy about. Was my 2nd deer ever with a bow and my first doe with a bow. Best of luck to everyone!1 point
