Not to waste a whole lot of time with this mindless liberal drivel, I'll simply say that it appears that some member of the anti-gun lobby has obviously infiltrated this forum with an agenda of spewing the party line of his cohorts. It was hardly worth the time wasted in reading it.8 points

First off, the title of this thread is very misleading. Secondly, I am also sick of people thinking the NRA is the All Mighty Supreme Power of everything that has to do with firearms. The people that YOU vote for are responsible for these new laws passing, NOT the NRA! As a matter of fact, Cuomo used some BS power he has to push the new bill through at 11:45 at night (I watched it live and felt helpless and violated). The Assembly had 20 minutes to vote on a 32 page bill. Any way. Keep writing your reps, and sign the petitions and class action law suits. We can still fight this outrageous legislation by civil means. The NRA is ON OUR SIDE!6 points

Just wasted 3 minutes of my life reading this liberal BS nonsense.4 points

How do you go about putting in a vote fir a state split. We have north Dakota south dakota, north carolina south carolina. Why not north ny south ny. Leave nyc and friends to their own devices and let the rest of our votes for a free-er life actually count. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 22 points

You talk a big game about knowing NYC and how things work around these parts. You act as if you grew up in the areas where crime run rampant in the city. I think you know nothing of the sorts. I also think you believe these feel good laws in NYC is actually doing something against crime. All that it's doing is making the process harder ad to impose an illegal tax for those that choose to bear arms and give a damn about their families, and not be drones to the politician and their minions. The background checks aren't any stricter, nor is there any real way to prevent someone without a gun to buy one out of state or on the streets. I believe you sir, is the one that needs to shut up.2 points

So last night I'm watching the local news a young gal did a piece on gun owners here meeting downtown and working on oppostion to the Safe act. At the end she mentions that she went to two local gun shows to get more gun owners thoughts, but was "turned away". Well I happen to know her ,so i sent her an email after the news ended and told her that most gun shows don't allow cameras. She replied right away but said they were not very nice to her( to put it mildly). WOW, she's there to get OUR opinions, so we lost a great chance to get OUR views on the news, then they are rude to her? do these guys think thats going to help us ??? she is a class act though and simply said 'turned away'. I gave her a couple names of guys in the local gun business who ARE well spoken class guys, she may try to put something togather with them next week.see after all that she still wants our side..... Heres something to keep in mind, your local news, while not always perfect is NOT the papers opinion page, they are not a Piers Morgan tv show either. Some of them want balance, and some of the reporters at this station are gun owners as well. I work hard at putting us in good light, then you get guys who are jerks to a young gal who wants nothing but to give them a chance to explain their side . If you have a gun shop, gun show, gun club, perhaps you should pick out your best thinker ,talker and have him ready with facts to be your spokesman, embrace the News educate them, instead of being the rude ,crude, dim witted gun owner may think we are. Gun control IS going to be in the news for sometime folks, how we look is up to us.1 point

Unfortunately NOT talking about differences of opinion on this forum doesn't get rid of the divide. I don't care if you are a gun owner, hunter, anti gun or anti hunting... if you spout nonsense.. you should be called out on it... these talks can't and don't divide something that is already divided. In fact it shows how passionate us true 2nd Amendment citizens are and outs those who are okay with diminishing that constitutional right.1 point
-
You are absolutely right, there is no need for us to be divided on this issue. The NRA is trying it's best to keep us united and on point relative to fighting more useless anti-gun legislation. Unfortunately there are a few that simply don't get it and keep on working to disrupt the unity that most of us are practicing. Shame on those who would fight against unity. We really don't need that kind of undermining. Liberal gun owners had better wake up and take a check of what's happening instead of trying to demonize all those that value the 2nd Amendment and argue for its preservation.1 point

Steve agreed, the NRA is NOT the all almighty. WE THE PEOPLE are....literally. But the NRA can help alert us and direct our resources to a common effort. Obama and Feinstein try to paint the NRA as some large corporate machine that benefits itself like Exxon/Mobil. The NRA is the largest and most powerful citizens group on the planet. Their power is a representation of our power. And if all gun owners maintained an NRA membership then NY would NOT have been able to pass its recent legislation.1 point

Well put, not sure why that Obama loving gun hater is on this forum to begin with. Guess he couldn't find the Diane Feinstein forum.1 point

Very simple, the state police are controlled by the democrats and work for Coumo. The state police will tow the company line and violate our 2A rights if instructed to do so by Cuomo. Cowardly for the leaders within the state police not to speak up but I guess that is self preservation. Here in Rochester the city police chief stood up and endorsed 100% of this bill because he is controlled by the Dems. The sheriff does not work for Cuomo and is able to speak their mind freely. The solution? at the next election vote Republican....1 point

Everyone here needs to read this.. it is the epitomy of how liberals think.. and the reason for the deterioration of our freedoms here in the US. You especially have to love this statement.. People in rural and less populated areas within the state where gun violence is less have no choice but to accept additional state gun control measures because of majority rules in the state legislature and the the fact that one fits all is unfair is moot... remember folks.. according to this thinking if you don't live in the city you have "no choice" and must just give in. And we all know that this statement has been proven time and time again to be wrong... Loosen the laws regarding gun control and the body count will rise. Bear in mind that incidences of gun violence is concentrated in urban areas and the laws regarding posssession of firearms are needed to be stricter.. incidences of gun violence by criminals and gang members who have no regard for stricter gun laws. This kind of post sends chills up my spine that somebody actually thinks like this and believes it makes sense.1 point

Well I'm there weekly...surprised they haven't offered me a job...lol Anyways they make sure the bagged lime is out very early Febuary...unlike everyone else...I start slow and pic up a bag or2-3 every week...hurts my pocket(perception) a little less...getting lime to where I plant in bulk ...is not an option. So I asked about it yesterday...and was told some thing I didn't know...they have lay away...that if I watch for their big % off coupons...... I could come in put the coupon toward the lime...buy a pallet and put it on lay away for 3mos...paying a bit each month...while they essentially store it for me...Well win win for me.. Good surprise...never been a lay away type person I had no idea...I buy a lot from them so get really good coupons.......just letting any one in my type of situation a heads up for the spring1 point

Tree/shrubs price usually isn't the issue. Its the stakes and tree tubes that gets pricey.1 point

6pnt. w/.243 rem. 100 gr sierra gameking. Heart shot, he jumped & went about 30 yards. So I guess we'll see the whole anti .243 / 20ga / 30-30 soapboxers around about the same time next year? Happy hunting.1 point

Well I got my shot at a buck today with my Remington Model 700 in .243. Buck was coming at me through a swamp and I let him come in to my shooting lane. Buck was at 40 yds. and I put the crosshairs right behind the shoulder. At the squeeze of the trigger the buck dropped dead right there. I again was using Hornady 95 gr. SST Superformance factory ammo. Glad I did not listen to my friends who told me that a .243 was kind of light for deer. Proof is attached.1 point

I haven't taken the time to read all of this lengthy thread so please forgive if I'm being repititous. A 243, 223 357,etc. will take deer just fine. IMO, the issue here is the fallacies that have somehow transgressed into "fact ". 1-a bad shot is a bad shot no matter what cartridge is used. 2-there is no requirement for a bullet to pass through to be effective 3-having a deer run a bit in the few seconds it takes to die is the norm 4-I have no desire to shoot a deer at a poor angle as I don't want to waste any meat or be reasonable for a slow agonizing death . Be ethical and you will have a short follow up.1 point

I was at the local gun shop yesterday looking at rifles. I had a savage axis in 243 in my hands. Loved the feel even though the trigger pull is a little heavy, but workable. I ordered one in 7-08. I wish I had just grabbed the 243. Would have been fun getting reloading stuff for a new caliber. Maybe I will get the 243 if I really like the 7-081 point

I killed another one with the 243 yesterday in PA. 80gr Barnes TTSX, 3400fps. 215 yard shot. He was probably 150lbs dressed. The 243 is just dandy for deer.1 point

243 is fine for deer. The swedes have been using a round comparable to the 260 to shoot moose for years and years. I've shot plenty of deer with a 223 and never had a problem and thats even smaller. I punched a doe in the chest with my 270 that ran almost a 100 yards even though its heart and lungs looked like a grenade went off. I have had the 270 drop other deer with the same shot on the spot. If you have the mentality that bigger is better use a 50 cal BMG that will stop'em1 point
