Got these 2 bucks on camera this week. Where they were during the season....no idea, never saw them. Next Year! disregard the date and time on the pics. My Wildview Extreme 2 camera resets the date / time whenever the camera is jiggled, bumped, or looked at too hard.

folks I am currently studying for hunting license and i passed the online portion with 100% mark. However when I try to book an actual classroom course , all the February/March classes near westchester county have been fully booked and fully wait-listed... Is there anybody there in Westchester county or long island that offer such course earlier in Feb or Jan ? I was told that there might be some instructors who are kindly enough to do that but not necessarily open their registration on the register-ed.com . Anyways.. i am trying my luck here. waiting for 3 months is quite painful... Thanks for any suggestions! I am in NY State /Westchester county. Anywhere within 100 miles radius I am more than happy to drive over to take the class..

Nice bucks. My wildview cams do the same thing...although I'd like to add that mine also reset when the wind changes direction, when the sun rises, when it falls, when it rains, when it snows, etc etc... Atleast they are still takin pictures!

Last fall I was jawing back and forth with some guys here on a PM and I said I'd post this dynamite recipe up. It is time............ Oven Stew 2 lbs uncooked stew meat (DO NOT BROWN!) carrots celery onions mushrooms (optional) potatoes 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can tomato soup Cook in a large casserole dish or any ovenproof dish. Cut up vegetables. Put meat on bottom of casserole and add cut up vegetables. Pour mushroom and tomato soup over top, DO NOT DILUTE. Cover and cook 3 hours at 325 degrees. OK, now here are the tips.................the meat (if using venison and it better be! ) must be cut up in small pieces, 1/2" x 1/2" works great. Spray some Pam or other non stick stuff on bottom of casserole dish. I only use a couple potatoes, cut small also. Last night when I made it I used a bag of shredded carrots and it was awesome! Use plenty of celery, 4-6 stalks. DO NOT skimp on onions, leave them in pretty big pieces. I used a small can of drained shiitake mushrooms. Don't mix the meat and vegetables up until it is done cooking; meat layer on bottom them pile the rest high! I also tend to use too much meat and vegetables sometimes so use two cans of each soup, mixed together in a bowl before pouring over the top of the whole thing. One last thing, it doesn't need 3 hours, two hours is just fine. Leave it for 2.5 if you doubt me or your oven is suspect............when the time is up, pull it and stir it. Served with a little Frank's Hot Sauce and you'll be fat, dumb and happy.

Don't forget that you have to store them behind the bar at some old,out of the way, gin mill for 50 years... I always remember from my drinking days that big jar of pickled eggs on the dusty shelf next to the pickled pigs feet at any 100 year old redneck bar I frequented... usually had to dare someone to try one..lol

I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I was when I opened the thread. I had much different hopes from the title....

Although , I agree with what I think doe whacker is alluding to - that people that work with dogs (not just trainers by the way) have abusers among them. However, the trainers who tell you that they exclusively use positive reinforcement do not fully understand how a dog's mind works and how dogs and people interact. Interviewing a trainer as you would a babysitter is fair cautionary advice, but it needs to be put into the proper perspective.

"Adopted a Golden Retriever-spaniel pup yesterday" Thats an interesting combo! And, I agree with what Mike said and would add.... You have to interveiw the trainer like you would a baby sitter. I worked with a trainer and he trained me along with the dog which was nice. Now I do it all myself and enjoy that more than anything else.

A good trainer will produce a better dog and might even prevent a novice from creating bad habits or worse bringing the dog close to the point of no return - I hesitate to say "ruin" because any dog is salvageable, however it becomes unpractical or unwise to salvage some of them. Hiring a trainer is expensive, but when you are dealing with hunting dogs, it may not be as costly relative to doing it yourself. The reason is because you need birds , private land, and training hunting dogs is regulated under NY state environmental conservation law. Not all, but most dog training must be done on private land and with released birds. The permit to possess live game birds alone costs $200 and there is red tape involved. It is questionable if the common use of rock doves (pigeons) is actually legal under the most conservative interpretation of the relevant laws. On the other hand, training your own dog is a satisfying journey if you have both the time & dedication to follow through. As a novice your learning curve will dictate the dogs and that is the most obvious advantage to hiring a trainer - he is not learning (never totally true, but you get my drift) and your dog will develop quicker with less setbacks. Off course there are many quacks in the dog training business, most of them talk real good too. As a matter of fact they are far better sales people then trainers. Often the worse ones have fancy facilities and woe clients with their material wealth. So beware... I work dogs and depending on your dogs temperament I would be willing to evaluate it for you, send me a private message with your phone number and I will give you a call.

BS Anybody can sit in a treestand over bait and kill deer. Get out of the trees and do not use bait and take deer the way a true hunter hunts. I know that you are hunting NJ and it is legal to use bait, but come on please you are not the worlds greatest hunter.
