How about making a requirement to hold a public office, they must carry a $10 million liability policy. They screw-up, therefore must pay up. I got another idea, propose at all Democratic leaders (state/federal level including President) are banned from being protected by armed guards (police, military, or otherwise). If the citizens in this country can't have a firearm even though it is in our Bill of Rights to have one, then they don't need protection by one either. It's like saying stealing a hammer and killing somebody with it makes the original owner of the hammer the responsible party. (or other commonly used items of murder [knife, screw driver, bat, pipe, etc]) It's not like guns ever get stolen from a police car either. ... wait didn't Tommy Lee from Motley Crew do that once after stealing the police car for a joyride.3 points

Seems to me, every rabidly anti-gun politician has that same crazed look when they attack gun rights. It has to be some form of mental disorder to have such hatred for an inanimate object.1 point

Called it a day. Too hot for birds to hit field mode IMO. Worked the hardwoods and creek on the way out. Nada peep from good ole Tom today. Looks like only 1 bird this year as I have to work tomorrow. Sucks the season is over ! Feel like my dog died. Great pic deer passion !1 point

I am all for change where change is warranted. But who makes the changes? A bunch of politically connected biologists or just a bunch of politicians with absolutely no knowledge of deer biology or numbers. The real people with the knowledge,is the hunters and landowners who have their boots on the ground. But their voices will not be heard because money and politics will silence the truest knowledgeable voices.1 point

on the gm vehicle's ANY code will throw the stabilitrack light it basically puts the vehicle in limp mode. so he changed the plug and coil but did he check power voltage/ground for said coil ? if that cylinder is not firing then you should get a rich reading on up stream o2 sensor or if the injector is bad you will get a lean reading. try spraying intake manifold with wd-40 around the #7 intake runner when running for bad gasket this will also cause a lean reading if leaking. if you have not done any maintenance on your engine its time for plugs all around and clean the throttle blade. another thing to check is your ground strap from motor to frame should be at pass front of engine pull on it and see if it falls apart looks like a wide flat woven wire that corrodes in our nice ny winters..1 point

Agree with doc, I'd trip that car so fast it'd make your head spin but then of course is the moral dilemma...........would you/could you trade that with a clear conscience?? Knowing there is a problem with possible dire consequences to not only the future owner but other people on the road??????1 point

Every time I see the initialed pop deer management schemes mentioned, the big red flag goes up. AR, EAB, OBR, and all the others ... they all sound good, and somewhere in the state they may be appropriate. But are any of them really good management policy across the state or even within a WMU? Maybe, but probably not. Could any of them do more harm than good? Sure applied in the wrong area they could be exactly the wrong thing in the wrong place. So whenever we champion one of these new flavor-of-the-day management schemes, The first thing we should be thinking is what will be the effect in other parts of the WMU or state where conditions are different. Just like the doctor's creed, we need to adopt the philosophy of "Do no harm". It might be good if the DEC also adopted that motto.1 point

Google Stabilitrak Red and you can see its been an on going problem. My parents just got a recall on there chevy car for it. Wifey had a 2010 equinox and we went through problem after problem. Didnt even get to 40k miles and had to have timing chain replaced twice under warranty, oil pan rusted out and started leaking, motor just was terrible on gas. But Chevy doesnt actually make it either. I drive a ton of miles at least 50k a year and after 4 GM company vehicles, 2 Chevy trucks and that equinox I will never ever again for the rest of my life own a Chevy product. Past 2 Dodge trucks have all went 300k miles before replacing and the one I have now is at 225K. Like em or hate em they have been the most dependable vehicles I have ever owned.1 point

I tend to think that most of the beer cans are not from hunters as well, it's the slobs who can't control themselves and need to drink and drive around for one reason or another, they just get rid of the evidence as they go along......suck one down and toss the can out of the window, and when they stop and urinate on the roadside they toss whatever else they want to get rid of........I was driving behind a car a few weeks back and watched as they tossed out the wrappers from whatever fast food they were chowing down on, and it was the kids in the back seat, who were obviously taught that by the adult slobs who were driving.1 point

"We’re just missing pieces of the puzzle, every little piece just adds more information for our understanding,” Thompson said" if they were playing around with that thing in the museum and it went off, "little pieces" would have been about right.1 point

As stewards of the land the only thing we can do is lead by example. Documenting your trash pick up will make more aware of the subject. Sounds like we need a trash pick up thread to show not only how bad our woods can get but the fact that we as hunters and outdoors men and women are the keepers of the land and that we respect it and clean it better than anyone. No one will ever protect the lands as well we can and do. Lets document it in pictures!1 point

LOL...Yeah, my wife laughs at me while we lay by the pool as I read "Live from the woods" posts. Some rum & cokes, strawberry daquireies, and bikinis do make missing turkey hunting a little bit easier!1 point

I'll bet that an awful lot of those bucks , will be reported killed on the 16th day of the season .....1 point

I will guarantee that such a rule will immediately be followed by the biggest buck of my lifetime walking in at 15 yards posing broadside, and then turning around and posing with the other side exposed, followed by a sound that is very much like laughter.1 point

I think the term "lazy hunter" is "over used" by those feeling the need to have a disillusion of superiority.1 point
