  4. October 24th of last year I saw a lone doe walking by at 60 yards, although they shouldn’t respond to a grunt, I used the “call to prayer” tube and gave a few soft grunts. Out of the mountain Laurel nearby I hear crashing and running. An 8 ptr comes trotting in to investigate, had no idea he was there. He came home with me.

  5. Doe here with a few immature bucks. Bucks are coming in pushing the doe around, but still no real signs of the main push taking off yet. Had the early one a week ago, that's it. I expect with these cooler temps. Things should start popping soon.

  8. What a night in PA! Youth rifle, got out of work at 3, got in stand at 4:30, shot doe at 5:15, ran to car, traded the rifle for the crossbow, 4 spikes chasing doe and all fighting in front of us. shot the buck at 6:05! His first buck. Prefect 30 yard shot. Saw a nice 8pt and 7 doe on drive out!

  9. Full on rut, I’d say no. Wouldn’t be surprised if a young buck follows a scent drag.

  10. I fooled around with a few different calls down through the years but never had what I would call success, a deer moving and getting them to stop for a shot is about the best I have seen. There are some that swear by calls so I do not completely discount them. Rattling is another technique I have had little luck with but have seen where others bring in some nice Bucks when things go right. Of all things, I have had better luck while varmint hunting using varmint calls bringing Deer into view, I think they come in more out of curiosity than anything else. Al

  16. The game warden asked the man, “Do you have a license to catch those fish?” The man replied to the game warden, “No, sir. These are my pet fish.” “Pet fish?!” the warden replied. “Yes, sir. Every night I take these here fish down to the lake and let them swim around for a while. I whistle and they jump back into their buckets, and I take em home.” “That’s a bunch of crap! Fish can’t do that!” replied the warden in disbelief. The man looked at the game warden for a moment and then said, “Here, I’ll show you. It really works.” “O.K. I’ve GOT to see this!” The game warden was curious. The man poured the fish into the river and stood and waited… After several minutes, the game warden turned to the man and said, “Well?” “Well, what?” the man responded. “When are you going to call them back?” the game warden prompted. “Call who back?” the man asked. “The FISH,” the warden said sternly. “What fish?” the man asked.
