Buck down! Rattled and he came flying in

I would never use a blower near or during deer season, but I do rake even the week of. I choose a windy day where noise level is already high, and I watch as I rake. Basically, move like I would when I still hunt. If I don't rake the depth of leaves getting to my stands and blinds would certainly get me busted. I do rake and clear preseason, so any other rakes are maintenance.

Here is one picture from that three year old ,I wrote about above. He backed off here. I used no scents, just a doe bleat call. Dangerously close. Sorry about the distorted pic. but you can make him out.

I’m packing that gun on that trip Thanksgiving NZ trip whether or not I still have a buck tag. It and my Remlin 336BL fits in one of my lockable hard sided gun cases (necessary during transport per NY Safe act) and I’ll bring my scoped Ruger M77 in my second hard case, if I still have my buck tag. If I punch that buck tag during the first week of the southern zone gun season at home, then I’ll bring my Ruger 10/22 in the second case and the side by side 16 ga. in the other. I’ll still bring slugs for that, in case I run into a black bear, but grouse and number 7-1/2’s will be the primary task. The .22 is for squirrels and coyotes.

One of the best Sundays in years here. Took the grand kids with me for the afternoon hunt. We had an action packed afternoon, just falling short of complete. ( No harvest) Cherish every moment they can spend a field with me. Their going to be some great future hunters.
