  1. Went to my favorite spot. Was in at 5:12 first gobble from roost 5:35. There were actually 4 Toms roosted around me. First one flew down and started to walk towards me. At 30 yards I let him have it! Man was I excited. Had to put a stick across his neck and he was done. Going to have him mounted. Ended up being 17 lbs 8.5 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Real beautiful bird.

  2. My son missed a Jake in PA Saturday in the miserable weather, followed it up with a beautiful double bearded heavy Tom. Saw 11 beards in these high winds and it was not easy, we covered 5-6 miles locating a dozen birds, when we found them they wanted to play. Our buddies son missed a Jake for his first bird. Back at it Thursday.

  6. So, my father-in-law has this old ML laying around... I never saw a rifle with the percussion cap and hammer underneath. No forestock... Nothing engraved on it anywhere. No names, no initials, just nothing. Looks to be a .45

  8. This guy gave me the slip yesterday. Had his hens all gathered up. Today he wasn't so lucky. Leatherstocking country was beautiful.

  9. Took my pup Airedale Ruff for a walk in the woods and he found himself a small antler, been doing just a little rudimentary training shown in some youtube videos and it paid off. Al

  10. I went to retrieve my ladder that got buried under my elevated deer house stand that blew over. Thank goodness without me in it! And when I got there I kicked up at least 20 deer. Tails going everywhere! Then I caught site a a really big Tom strutting across my field. I videoed some of him and tried to get a few pictures. Then after pulling my ladder out and stacking some of the salvaged wood, I rode up into the woods to check the couple cameras I have. I’m actually there now. And the woods were booming with gobbling for about 45 minutes I’m up here. It’s the first spring in many years I have heard this here. I may actually get the bug to try his Spring.

  11. Have you considered a couple of strands of heavy-duty electric fencing around the bees? Might be good insurance. Maybe a solar unit if the hives are too far away from any electric source. All it takes is one visit, one night from one of those critters and the whole deal can be ruined.
