You could also post this question here http://www.retrievertraining.net/forums/ Many knowledgeable people there.

I'm assuming you want to have someone train the dog for you. Not sure where you are located but Rick Millheim is very good. www.renegaderetrievers.com
-
That's what I did. I think it was about $12
-
It's just called Meat Eater. So far it's pretty good.
-
Totally agree. I'm about half way through his book too. I usually read it on stand.

Looks like there may just be statewide Antler Restricts.
pistolp71 replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Deer Hunting
Yup, and ultimately, they are just a complete waste of time. -
I think that rifle is too unsafe to own and you should sell it to me immediately! Obviously JK. That increases the value significantly.

loworange88 is correct. That screw is not holding the stock to the gun(action screws) it is just holding the trigger guard to the stock. Not a big deal.

If you are worried about the headspace being dangerously out, then just buy, borrow, or rent a no go gauge(or a go gauge with a piece of scotch tape on the bottom). If it chambers on a no go gauge, you have a problem. You can rent them here http://www.reamerrentals.com/searchresults.asp?cat=397

Speaking of concenticity, I just broke down for a Sinclair gauge last week. I'm right around a thousandth runout.

Case heads measure .471. And the flash holes are drilled and perfectly centered.
-
Yup, usually several ways to achieve the same result. Wildcat junkie, I'm a bit of a wildcat junkie myself. Love my 6-284, 6 dasher, .257 Roberts ackley, 6-06 Ackley. And gonna build a .20 Vartarg next.

And for those that don't know. In short, headspace, is the distance from the case head(bottom part where the primer is) to that datum line(the part of the shoulder that stops the case from moving forward). Excessive headspace could cause case head separation. You don't want to push the should back excessively when resizing. Lawdwaz, I primarily use Lapua brass myself, great stuff. Along with annealing, it last forever. Not sure what Lapua brass has to do with headspace though...

Nice, wouldn't mind having one in the safe. And I agree Eddie, I've seen MANY Remington semi autos jam because of that ridiculous nylon O-ring design.
-
Rsrains has it right. Some get intimidated by the whole headspace thing but its really not that hard. All you need is the hornady headspace gauge kit and a good micrometer. Bolt guns you want very minimal should push, about a thousandth. Semi autos should have about 3-5 thousandths just for reliability. And yes, tuning is primers, powder, bullets, oal, not headspace.

Would love to see the one buck rule. -
TSA Gun Case locks
pistolp71 replied to BKhunter's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Yes, do not use TSA locks. The locks should be able to opened only by you. Also, the TSA does not do the checking of the firearm, the police do. At least on the NY side. Once the firearm is checked to be unloaded, and serial numbers, you then sign a declaration and lock it in the case. It is not to be opened by anyone from that point on. Make sure you allow extra time for this process. It usually takes the cops a while to get there and do it. Good luck. -
Been a little slow on the ducks. Managed a few mallards and a black yesterday. Been destroying the Canada's though.

Insufficient scope adjustment..Suggestions ?
pistolp71 replied to Pygmy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Oh I agree, something is not right. Most likely the scope. My suggestion was if he was set on using the scope he had. -
Insufficient scope adjustment..Suggestions ?
pistolp71 replied to Pygmy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
First, I would just throw another scope on it and try that, just to narrow it down. 2 fixes, one is to lap the rings. Although with the amount you are talking about, it may not be enough. Second and probably the best, is to use burris signature zee rings with the offset inserts http://www.burrisoptics.com/sigrings.html Your welcome. -
Been hunting long island for 30 yrs. Pm me, and I'll help you as much as I can. Don't want anything.
-
With a good smith, not a huge chance at all. But before you do anything, you need to inspect the throat with a bore scope to see if its even worth it.
-
If you are talking about cedar point park in east Hampton, I used to go all the time. I only used to go for the early sea duck hunting. There are a bunch of blinds on the peninsula. Lottery pick in the morning. Mostly pass shooting coming over the peninsula. Never hunted it past the October sea duck.

Very nice! What did he charge?
-
I think it's long enough. And you can't define pressure by the amount of shots you hear.
